Wonder Festival 2012 Summer: Kaiju photo

Of course, Wonder Festival isn't just home to all the big companies; it's where many smaller independent toy makers come, and this year brought us plenty of new sofubi and kaiju to talk about! Max Toy Co. brought with it their new Kaiju Zanga (designed by Yamashita-san of Nakayoshi) and a new Azumanga Daioh kaiju piece, Osaka! She joins Chiyo-chan and Chiyo's dad as Japanese event-only pieces, produced via a one-day license.

Speaking of licensed figures, Linden appears to have made a series of independently produced toys of creatures from Gegege no Kitaro! What I like about them is they have that sofubi style to them but they keep a lot of the original design elements to them.

Also catching our attention are some new sculpts and colorways from Chima Toys, Black Rabbit, Rampage Toys and P.P. Pudding; a series called Finger Five from Fig-Lab that appear to be finger puppets and seem to include a design from the Sucklord; a little camera creature from Angel Abby; and what I could best describe as a melon bear from Atelier G1.

For the full run down, head on over to check out our friend Andy at Kaiju Korner. He has over 250 pictures from the event focusing on kaiju makers, including more photos of the Gegege no Kitaro figures from Linden; new works from Grody Shogun; and some interesting new stuff from Sunguts.

Tomopop Review: Kotobukiya's ArtFX J Jonouchi Katsuya

When Kotobukiya first announced that Jonouchi Katsuya would be to be joining Yami Yugi (reviewed) and Seto Kaiba (reviewed) in the ArtFX J line, I was pretty ecstatic. As a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, I felt the line was a ...

Make a wish for a closer look at Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi

Back in April, you could get your pre-orders in for the emotionlessly adorable Tsukiko of HenNeko fame. Now, I'm not really interested in kuudere girls, but the way Tsukiko still manages to clearly have emotions while being s...

Onii-chan, won't you pre-order Sora Takanashi too?

My worries over PapaKiki continue to be taken care of thanks to FREEing, following up their cute little Miu with the eldest of the siblings, Sora. It stands to reason they're continuing their beach themed lineup, and there's ...

Hit play for a second turn at TF Masterpiece Soundwave

No doubt that Transformers Masterpiece figures are popular. Be it from Hasbro or Takara Tomy they have a tendency to sell out pretty quickly as pre-orders, to say nothing of their actual release date. It's pretty common for t...
