As you might be aware by now, Wonder Fesitval 09's summer event took place yesterday, and there was a ton of stuff on display, a good deal of it from Good Smile Company and Max Factory in the form of new Figmas and accessories. Thankfully, Danny Choo was there to capture the madness that was the march of the Figmas, and boy, was there ever a lot to cover.
Hit the jump for all the good Figma news, because there's a lot to see and talk about!
First off, as you might see in your header image above, there's a whole new line of Figma accessories that will be rolling out in the future, the "figma ex:ride" series, featuring mopeds, bikes, scooters, skateboards and inline skates. I'm not 100 percent interested in them at the moment, but I can definitely see the appeal. The pictures of the "ex:ride" accessories and Figmas from the show are adorable.
On top of that, there are a few new "di:stage" pieces that will apparently be coming out in the future, the most notable of those being a classroom set. We've seen them before for Nendoroids, but this new playset should hopefully work well for those of us with a ton of Figmas. The layout of it looks pretty good.
But the meat of the pictures are, of course, the Figmas themselves. Some are old friends like Duke Togo or Aegis. A lot of them, though, are brand new, though perhaps somewhat expected, such as the plainclothes Saber. Others we kind of expected were coming, like the new summer uniform versions of the Hiiragi twins, which were a bit obvious after the announcement of the summer uniform Konata Figma. There are also several Figma from Max Factory's upcoming first eroge title, Se Kirara. In fact, it looks like most of the cast has already gotten the Figma treatment.
The two biggest surprises, though, don't fall into any of those groups. First off, there's a Figma of TYPE-MOON's Ryougi Shiki. Wait, did you just hear that noise? That was Colette's squeals of joy upon reading that sentence. The Figma we saw at the event was just a reference model and not finalized for release, but it looks amazing. And yes, that's a cloth fabric kimono on Ryougi.
The other big newsis that the painted decoration master of the Mirai Figma will be exclusively at next week's Tokyo Figure show. The painted decoration master is, of course, a pretty good look at what the final Figma will look like when it hits stores (with maybe a few tweaks here and there), so it should be exciting to see how Mirai turned out.
