Win a plush talking Sucklord at DesignerCon! photo

With New York Comic Con out of the way, the next big toy event in the US has got to be DesignerCon, taking place in Pasadena, California, on November 3. One of the draws of this year's con is the Suckcarnival, in which one lucky player will win a talking Sucklord plush. The press release describes the prize thusly:

Remember when you were a kid and all you wanted to do was win that amazing stuffed animal at the fair? Now's your chance to try your skills at winning something extra extra extra radical. Sure, you might win a headshot of the Sucklord, or maybe a piece of bright pink junk, but you COULD win a talking plush Sucklord. Based on a design by Gary Ham, this little guy will remind you of the actual Sucklord, and with a press of his palm he will spout annoying sayings at you. At least until the batteries die.

As noted in the quote, the plush was birthed from a previous toy designed by Gary Ham (check out Jeremyriad's picture in our gallery to see a comparison). My understanding is that there is only plush made, so that is quite the collectible for the art toy fan. [UPDATE: DKE Toys' Sarah Jo Marks has let us know that there will possibly be multiple winners and the plush will otherwise be available at the event for US$25!]

DesignerCon 2012: Susuten

Susuten's booth at DesignerCon was bursting at the seams with Melissa B. Hsu's handmade plushes of assorted sizes and characters. One of the characteristics of Melissa's work that caught my eye was the simplicity of the ...

DesignerCon 2012: Yetis & Friends

Prior to DesignerCon, my knowledge of Yetis & Friends' work was limited to what was available on their Etsy shop. I think their most iconic toys are their yeti plush trophies, which, as one might expect, are plush heads o...

DesignerCon 2012: Nonesuch Garden

Nonesuch Garden's booth at Pasadena's DesignerCon made me quite nostalgic, with her doll house-sized plushes and imaginative elves that look as though they leapt out of a picture book. The wide range of handmade plush animals...

DesignerCon 2012: Bebop Designs and Devilbear

Bebop Designs came to DesignerCon with their Ultra Grunt resin figures. The Ultraman/toy soldier mash-ups were in a multitude of colors and each stood 4 inches tall. It's not totally my cup of tea but an interesting mash-up o...

DesignerCon 2012: BeeFy & Co.

BeeFy & Co. showed up to DesignerCon, and in tow as their Big Bad Buddha figure. He's still looking pretty big-bellied, but as mentioned before, the DCon exclusive was in a golden colorway. They also had with them a ton o...

DesignerCon 2012: Hyperactive Monkey

DesignerCon was invaded by some sinister ninja monkeys! Oh wait, no, that's just Hyperactive Monkey's booth at the event. They brought with them a new colorway of the Deluxe Ninja Monkey figure, now in a shiny silver paintjob...

DesignerCon 2012: Beary Happy

Beary Happy is an upcoming line of plush toys. Yes, they're mostly bear-themed, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll all be bears. There's even one that's a flying monkey, it seems! And a little girl dressed up in a bear suit, to boot. Check out some of the photos we snapped up from the Beary Happy booth, and stay tuned for any news we've got on the line!

DesignerCon 2012: doubleparlour

The creations of doubleparlour are really ones you'll love ... or hate. They aren't the cuddliest sculptures in the world, and for some, they might be the stuff of nightmares. But to me, there's something interesting about se...
