Who is Monsterella Plushies?

Mar 03 // Colette Bennett

I have a stunning amount of Totoro memorabilia, most of it officially licensed Studio Ghibli product. I've also picked up a few fan-made items here and there, as sometimes I find that the way they see the beloved characters of My Neighbor Totoro can have a unique effect on the final product. With these handmade huggables from Monsterella Plushies, that is very much the case.

The Phillippines-based art group's motto is "Making Your Imaginary Friends Handy", a sentiment I quite like (and in fact, Tomopop's name comes from a similar idea!). They state inspiration from Ghibli films, but they also make adorable eyemasks with popular characters such as Doraemon and Mickey Mouse and Totori iPhone cases(see the gallery for pics).

If you'd like to inquire about pricing or placing an order, you can do so here. Follow them on Facebook too -- you might as well keep an eye on what they are going to do next!
