Weta announces acquisition of Dota 2 collectibles licenseWell, this is unexpected and pleasant: Weta have just announced that they're partnering with Valve to release statues, weapon and armor replicas from the-eternally-in-beta Dota 2. It's not the first time the two have collaborated, as Weta worked on a few special projects for Valve's office and Valve in kind has put Weta's Dr. Grordbort weapons in Team Fortress 2. A sneak peek of all these Dota 2 wares will be at the upcoming "The International” Dota 2 Championships in Seattle on Friday, Aug. 31, with pre-orders opening at 9 a.m. Friday for the first pieces. Talk about short notice ... It's not a bad choice at all by Valve, given te precision Weta has put into their Lord of the Rings and Hobbit collectibles. I'm looking forward to seeing the sneak peek pics coming out of "The International", but what about you guys and gals? Any Dota 2 fans out there excited about the news? Did you know?
