Under the Radar: Jazwares expands Mortal Kombat line

While I'm not how successful Jazwares' Mortal Kombat line has been, the fact that they're still making it must mean something. Many had high hopes when the line was first announced which were subsequently dashed repeatedly (and painfully), ultimately leaving many to occasionally glance at the line out of a morbid kuriosity.

The most interesting of the recent additions are super-deformed (SD) renditions of Scorpion, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, and Kabal. They're surprisingly cool and a definite stand-out from a mostly mediocre line. I like the looks of Scorpion and Shao Kahn in particular. The SD figures are supposedly 2.75-inches tall.

I'm also pleasantly intrigued by the 3.75-inch scaled "Shao Kahn Throne & Arena" playset (which includes a 5-inch Shao Kahn). Granted, there doesn't look to be a lot to it but the basics are really cool. Also added to the line (in 6-inch and/or 4-inch) are Liu Kang, Kano, Jax, and Night Wolf. None of those look much better than the quality of the initial offerings although the 6-inch scaled (ie, 7-inch) Shao Kahn looks like it may warrant a buy. Otherwise I'm still surprised that this line hasn't already been canceled. Has anybody out there been impressed by the line in some way?
