Toy Fair 2012: NECA

NECA displayed some impressive recreations of famous video game weapons at Toy Fair. My favorite is the hidden wrist blade from Assassin's Creed, which is spring loaded and pops out with the press of a button. Actually I'm pretty certain that's illegal in a lot of cities.

NECA also has a prop portal gun. While it doesn't create actual portals, it does have a variety of lighting effects that can be controlled via trigger pull. Check out the gallery to see a few more, including a very nice steampunk line launcher from the upcoming BioShock Infinite!

There were also a variety of traditional toys on display, many inspired by Valve's popular franchises. While I did enjoy TeamFortress 2 and the Left 4 Dead games, aren't they kind of... old news by now? I would ask for some Battlefield 3 toys but I guess those would pretty much be G.I. Joes.

Is suspicious of kittens and robots. Vehemently dislikes angle quotes. Will never forgive the Cylons. Was the real-life inspiration for the movie . more   |   staff directory
