Toy Fair 2012: Mattel - MattyCollector photo

MattyCollector, Mattel's collector-centric online store, has always struck me as the company that specializes in making action figures of stuff that should have been done ages ago. At their Toy Fair booth, the company showed off two such lines, their movie-accurate Ghostbusters series and Voltron Classic line. It's strange for me to see their Ghostbusters line and know that it was not until 2009 that fans finally received figures based on the movie that kickstarted this enduring franchise. Mattel had the entire line on display including the recently revealed Dana as Zuul figure, which comes with an alternate torso that looks kind of morbid when seen out of context.

For those of you into giant robots, which is hopefully all of you, Mattel showed off the entire Voltron Classics line. Fans will be able to purchase all the pilots and their respective lion vehicles over the course of this year, and more importantly, will finally get the satisfaction of having those pilots fit in their cockpits, a first for the series. Also on display was an epic fully-formed Voltron, which clearly justifies its price tag.
