Tomopop Secret Santa: A Gift for Robert Oden photo

This is my second Secret Santa, but when I found out that Robert Oden hadn't received a gift, I knew I had to do something about it! After all, he is a pretty awesome guy. He started working right when I did, so I know him well enough to pick out yet another KICK-ASS present. Although this time it isn't a girl. Sorry, Robert! I was tempted to get you real-life Huntress, but I already got a girl for Jonathan. On second thought, that is a pretty good idea! Maybe I'll put her in your stocking. And get a second one for myself. ^^

So enough with the chit-chat, let's check out the awesome present I picked out for Robert, the Intern Wonder!

DUH NUH NUH NUH DUH NUH NUH NUH SECRET SANTA TIME!

So, I know Robert likes Batman. And you know what? I like Batman too! So much that I wrote a paper on him! No joke, I wrote a term paper on Batman. That is how much I love him. And I thought to myself, "what is the perfect present for a fellow Batman lover?" I was going to get him an awesome figure, but then it hit me. I would get him the first Batman comic ever, back when he was still in Detective comics. Issue No. 27, unless I am very much mistaken, is when Batman first appeared in print, and the world was never the same. Seriously, NEVER THE SAME. Think about a world without the idea of Batman. It would suck, right? So I thought the first-ever piece of Batman history would be an awesome gift for the person who likes Batman as much as I do (if not more so), and is certainly more knowledgeable about the Caped Crusader.

So here you go, Robert. A glossy new copy, in mint condition, of the first ever Batman comic. May it bring you peace and happiness, and the ability to kick butt and solve crime. Also, the header has nothing to do with the present except for the fact that it makes me laugh, and hopefully it will make you laugh too!

P.S. Please forgive me for not referring to him as "The Batman," it always seemed a little silly to me. What is he, The Pope? Lol jk, Batman is way cooler than The Pope.

Legacy Comments

I can't help noticing that inappropriate sound effect in that header image. :O)
You're right in it being the first full-comic appearance of Bats. The technical first appearance was one month earlier in Detective Comics #26 as an ad for the next issue. Yeah, I wouldn't want to display that one either. You totally picked the right horse! (And what the hell am I really ever going to do with all of this useless knowledge?)
Wootabago!
