Tomopop Review: Queen's Blade Rebellion 1/8-scale Annelotte by Megahouse [NSFW] photo

Queen's Blade is a touchy subject around these parts. As much praise as the character designs receive, their clothes can come off, so the praise goes with them, too. Annelotte is the lead character of the sequel, Queen's Blade Rebellion. As the story goes, Annelotte is the daughter of a general, who due to her sense of justice, broke off and formed her own group of women warriors. In reality, plot is just a device to sell this girl to you, the loving viewer.

This particular version of Annelotte is her Player 2 version, in terms of plot she has given in to her demon side. It was a Wonder Fest exclusive that I was able to get my hands on. I decided to take this to the beach to take advantage of this last weekend of summer. Hit the jump to check out my review of Queen's Blade Rebellion 1/8-scale Annelotte by Megahouse!

Figure Name: Queen's Blade Rebellion 1/8-scale Mad Knight Annelotte (Player 2 version)
Figure Maker: Megahouse
Figure Price: US$89.99

The boxes for Queen's Blade figures have been nicely decorative. The window lets you get a full view of everything. The box is two toned, with the front and back being black and the sides being purple. The packaging holds it together nicely, with the figure very secure. If you don't like to take your figures out of the box, you can easily leave it in and still gaze at its beauty. I like taking things out, though, so let's do that.

It was a lovely last day of summer to the east, a torrential downpour coming in from the west. The weather really fit this version of Annelotte. The figure includes two accessories, her sword and shield. The sword has feint touches of black at its tip. The shield features the two-tone black and purple against the gold shield. Speaking of gold, it's evident all over the figure. While it's not a finish like say a Saint Seiya armor or the Hyaku Shiki, it's still vibrant enough to stand out from your other figures. Gold is something I like, and the gold armor on this figure speaks right to me.

From the back, you get a gander at the rear-only skirt. Megahouse put great detail into the folds and it adds some nobility to the figure. The hair does its best job to hide seams, and for the most part succeeds. You can tell where the seams are, but they aren't overly distracting or look cheap. They're placed where you would expect hair to split, so they look natural, which is a weird word to describe anything Queen's Blade.

Not all is perfect with this figure though. The base, which is now hidden by sand, is pretty awful. It's just a clear rounded base with the title logo embossed on it. The peg to which the foot connects is removable from the base and the foot, which leads to falling. The pose, while striking, doesn't help this at all. The figure, in my time spent with it, I can tell already is going to be prone to lean. The hair and skirt make it back heavy, and the sole thing holding it to a base can be taken off. You can already tell what kind of problems this might have. I highly suggest finding a way to safely secure it if you'd like to have it out for display.

On a much more positive note, check out those eyes. You'll find yourself easily turning over to the darkness once you look in them. The lips are nicely painted and the crown is just about perfect for the knight princess. Also on her neck is a blue wolf pendant, which adds to the darkness of the piece.

Let's get down to it, yes her clothes come off. The navel is sculpted nicely and the body is accentuating all the right curves. The panties shade of purple is a bit brighter than the cape while given a bit of black lace on top. The body is really nice, but it seems awkward having it out there when all of the other armor is there. In my logical sense of stripping, I'd take off my armor from the arms and legs first. Then I remember I'm applying sense to Queen's Blade, so forget that last statement.

Now for the rear! As great a backside as this is, I can't help but have my eyes be lifted upwards above the panty line. The marks are from removing the torso armor, so you'll need to be careful in your removal/application. I was able to clean it up, but I shouldn't have to clean a figure every time I do something it is the drawing feature of the figure.

The end of the day has come and the sun sets for the last time this summer. High tide has rolled in, trying to claim Annelotte for the sea. I love the design presented in this version, but the figure has a number of flaws, albeit they are correctable. If Annelotte's demon version tickles your fancy, I'd say go ahead and pick her up. She looks great and will make a beautiful display, that is if you are willing to take care of her.

Thanks to Toys Logic for providing the sample for review. You can purchase Annelotte from Toys Logic for $89.99!

For a Queen's Blade even in boob's out it doesnt seem over the top. Could be the sand covering said nipplage, which now makes it feel like a Sport's Illustrated Swimsuit shot.

Great review.
I personally like the default color scheme, but I really like all the details they added to her alternate self. She has my favorite design by far out of all the QB girls.

Really? Personally, I'm more partial to Mirim.
I like the surf shot. It made me think of outer space:
The colours you see in the clothed rear view shot look great together. It makes me wish that she was more covered up so you could see those tones from the default front view.
It's acutely painful to me to see Annelotte with dirty, dirty sand on her and later in the surf!!!

I have her player one version, and if someone tried to do those things to my Annelotte, I think that in the future I would refer to that person using the phrase "I regret he is no longer with us."

But I wouldn't really regret it, though.
