Tomopop Review: Patch Together's Zombie Cactus photo

One of the great things about Patch Together is seeing the artist's designs brought to life, especially ones I was very excited to see in person. Today's example of that would be Zombie Cactus! which was originally designed by Josh Lee a.k.a. evil-santa.

In a world that seems to be overflowing with zombie designs as of late, I can say I've definitely never seen a zombie cactus before. Hit the jump to see this awesome design up close and personal, but.. don't let it eat your brain!

Figure Name: Zombie Cactus!
Figure Maker: Patch Together
Retail/List Price: US$35.00
Available at: Patch Together

Zombie Cactus

First up we're greeted with the usual white box Patch Together tends to send their resin figures in. Clean packaging as per usual!

Zombie Cactus

Well, until you open the box and get styrofoam everywhere! The Zombie Cactus was wrapped in a soft clear plastic wrapping, and then fit into the styrofoam block. The little piece cut to fit into the hole kept the figure in its place very well, which led to the figure being damage free when it arrived!

Zombie Cactus

Now that he's been removed from his packaging and taken out in the rocks he looks like he's ready for some brains. Though I'm not sure what kind of brains a cactus would eat, so I guess I'll be surprised to find out!

Zombie Cactus

It's true you learn things every day, as I also didn't know cactus had brains either, let alone ate them. Clearly I have yet to learn the magic of the Zombie Cactus! The details in all of the cut away pieces are very well done, especially the brain.

Zombie Cactus

There are numerous cut away pieces, including bones and other such things strewn about his body. The use of different hues of red in the wounds give a great addition of depth to the figure, and is very pleasing to the eye.

Zombie Cactus

The only part of the figure that's not as pleasing, in my opinion, is the detailing on the pot. They look like they were done a little quickly compared to the rest of the figure, though considering it's just on the base it doesn't make for a big distraction.

Zombie Cactus

I really love the colors used on this piece, especially the random purple and yellow flower that grows on the side. All of the colors work well together, and make this nearly 5 inch tall figure look just plain awesome.

Zombie Cactus

The amount of detail on this piece is just incredible. There's not a single blank area on the entire design, which makes it nicely viewed from any angle. Can I also gush about how much I love its facial expression? That blank stare on the zombie face is just great, and all of the details going into it make it look fantastic.

Zombie Cactus

The only place that doesn't have any detail is the bottom of the pot, but obviously that's what it sits on so it's not like it needs any. The look on his face from that angle does make me laugh though, as it's a little, 'Help I've fallen and I can't get up!'

Zombie Cactus

If you'd like a brain-eating houseplant for your living room, head on over to Patch Together now. You'll be able to pick him up for US$35.00 and he will fulfill all your zombie needs. I can't recommend this figure enough. Head over there now to get your hands on one before they sell out!
