Tomopop poll: What do you like to read about on the site? photo

Sister site Japanator asked its readers today what it is that makes them come back to the site time and time again, and we thought this would be an excellent time to ask Tomopop readers the same question. After all, we like to keep you guys happy, and the best way to do that is to find out what you enjoy reading about the most.

That being said, please hit the break and you'll find a small poll, which will allow you to tell us what coverage you enjoy most on the site. Is it anime figures? Customs? Designer vinyl? Weird finds? All of the above? Please feel free to mention in the comments if there's something you really dig that we missed. After we give it a few days for people to answer, we'll choose a winner at random (please make sure to comment if you want a chance at this -- voting does not count as a comment) and send them a really cool figure from MINDstyle's Serv-O-Matics line. Free stuff just for telling us what you like? Yep!

MOAR What is Tomopop?:

Legacy Comments

I know it obviously creates an overlap with sites like Japanator, but for me, the main reason I come here is the anime toys. But I really like how creative the photography can be, rather than just the standard product shots you get on the distributors webpage.

In that vein, I quite like the "what toys are up to" articles.
Theres no "Great Community" option so I just selected a whole bunch of them and put in other "Awesome Editors"
Oh yeah, good point, Neonie.

There should have been an "I have a wicked mad crush on Colette" option, cos I'd have ticked that twice!

lol
Mainly a fan of the Tomocast, which says something, because in general I find podcasts more of a nuisance than anything. I've listened to all of the Tomocasts. Good stuff. The anime figure news is good too and though I don't care enough or really the money to also buy designer vinyl, I like seeing the pictures even if all I see is what I scroll past to get to the anime pvc stuff. It's nice knowing that other set of toys exists. So it's the Tomocast and the anime pvc news/reviews for me.
I come here for anime related figures, including nendroids and figmas, but I also love reading about stuff happening in the community, blogger photography galleries and sales are great. Getting announcements about preorders and releases were also really helpful to me.
You guys should do some more personal posts, too. I love seeing new shit posted, but hearing little anecdotes about different toys on the podcast (or Topher's amazing post about his Chun-Li figure) is really interesting, at least for me.

I guess that'd probably fall more along the line of show and tell maybe? I dunno.

Either way, I voted on the stuff I like to see, cause I like you guys a lot
The posts that I actually enjoy the most are the Bootleg Hell posts. They're informative and help people, not too familiar with figure, to know what to look out for.

Also, I come back for the PRETTY.
i like having a collection of toy blogs i read, and tomopop updates regularly, so there's usually something new to read.
I come for the designer vinyl, plush, and customs. I like seeing what people are making and how it's made, mostly because that's what I'm doing right now. I enjoy the plush because I know I can't do it, and I like the designer vinyl for the eye candy and potential collection.

I would love to see more nerd culture/video game toys, etc. I enjoy Weta, retro toys, and C'thulhu, of course. So, more of those things, even if they're not the most popular, is awesome for me.
Everything is just really enjoyable here.
I really like the C blogs for the reviews, customs, and sales.

This is the only site I go to in order to check up on the figure/toy/vinyl scene.
i clicked on everything :3
Voted :) Also Tomopop forums?
I agree with Phoenix Gamma. In the "other" box I asked for more special features. Destructoid has a lot of weekly features that are written by one editor. Here we've got Toys of Yesterday and Go for Broke, but I'd like to see more along those lines.
The site is really what introduced me to vinyls and customs thereof, so that's what my favorite content usually is. I'd like to see more love to the blind boxes, I think.

Oddly, I'm not big on the Nendoroids... I'm not sure why. But I definitely love the What Toys Are Up To bits and those articles seem to feature them often... It is a quandary.
seems to be all over the spectrum ;p y is there not a mecha category!
I agree with the creative photography comment. I especially like the links or galleries of the custom shows. The custom Vader heads, dunnies and other special features are kick ass. Of course the hot female figures were the first thing that caught my eye but I returned for the creativity and varied content. Keep on keepin on!
I come in my jeans whenever I talk to the lovely Colette Bennett.

Also, I guess because I work here.
Everything I think you guys are doing a great job the only thing i don't see enough of from my specific tastes are Comic Book figures. Or even better the stuff you can actually buy in a store.
I really enjoy this site/community because of the "family togetherness" everyone seems to share with eachother. I love the awesome figure reviews with the beautiful photos of the new items, as well as all the positive and or negative heads up information on it. Very well put together/organized site. Good polite and respectful people running it. I rely heavily on this site to keep me updated on things. :)
I come for Colette and I stays for the awesome

omg i didnt mean to post that twice >
Colette counts as other right? =) I've loved the site since it's debut. I love the look, and since I focus on designer toys, I get my dose of anime/ hottest looking japanese figures. Now, send me serv-o-matics. Oh yeah, and I got to participate on it for a while-- so I love the community too.
i really dig Revoltechs, action figs, and trading figures the most so yeah, thats why i come here.
I think I picked about half the options in that poll, plus I wrote in CBlogs since those are the next best thing to a full fledged forum *crosses fingers*. Really though, across the board, what keeps me coming back is the excellent photography. Even if a toy in question doesn't particularly interest me the shots of it probably will. The eye candy around here is unmatched and there's always something new up. The witty commentary is the icing on the cake.

Me too, Although I also return for the pretty, I really like the personal touch that some articles have.
I just love looking at awesome toys. Plus, I have this naive hope that one day somebody will post about a new Kaiji figma and/or Nendoroid. A GIRL CAN DREAM...

The articles are nice, too.
Great shopping opts not covered anywhere else in English. Thanks Colette and Eva for posting boy toys for girls/ dames. Followed by detailed photos and reviews by Rio etc.
Drool worthy previews of even more toys taken from trade shows like and cons. Latest eg. Comiket.
And the editors bother to answer questions. Real nice of them.
The only terrible thing is that there are so many new temptations coming up fast and furious that the piggy bank is screaming.

PS FYI Miss Content is my preferred Serv, hehe.
