Nendoroid Snow Miku 2012 is shipping at the end of the month, much to our joy, but what about 2013? For the second year in a row, Good Smile Company and Crypton (through its Piapro site) decided to let the rest of the world have a say at what they'd like to see in a Snow Miku design for 2013. With a theme of snow and sweets, more than 200 illustrators have taken up the task, and from them, we've found five that we really seem to like most of all.

So what do we hope next year's Snow Miku will look like? Hit the jump to check out our picks!

Before we start, some details on how the voting went down. Initially, Tomopop staff was asked to pick three favorite designs, after which we'd total everything up and select a winner. The problem? Well, everyone picked totally different things for the most part, so we had to revote.

For the second time, we took all the Mikus we'd picked, selected five each, and then tied each vote to a certain number of points on a weighted scale (1st - 8 points, 2nd - 5 points, 3rd - 3 points, 4th - 2 points, 5th - 1 point). The reason for doing this was, in part, to put more importance on selecting wisely and to prevent ties. In case of ties, though, tiebreakers were total number of votes, then total number of 1st place votes and so on after that until a tie was broken.

Make sense? Good. Now, on to the picks!

Editor-in-Chief's Honorable Mention: Lpt_Yamamoto's Snow Miku Diva ver.

Okay. I just really liked this one. Couldn't resist posting her. She's not exactly that candy themed, but she's in traditional dress (kimono, obi and all) yet its also Miku-styled. If she doesn't make the cut for 2013, I'd love, love, love to see her as the 2014 release or even just as another figure Good Smile Company offers up at some point. I can dream, right?

5th place: Notsuka's Macaroon Miku (11 points, 2 votes)

First up, in fifth place, we have this lovely little design from an artist named Notsuka. They've put Miku in a macaroon-inspired outfit, layering her dress as layers of cream and giving her a cute little overcoat. Also, she has a macaroon-styled hat and her hair seems to travel off into these translucent portions. Very simple, but very cute!

4th place: Rkp's Hopping Ice Miku (11 points, 3 votes)

This one was my first choice, to be honest. The earmuffs are macaroons, there's little heart-shaped charms in her hair made of ice cream sandwiches, the cuffs of her coat look like dollops of whipped cream and the color scheme is gorgeous. Not to mention the speckled bits on the edge of her hair that look like berries and fruits inside ice cream. Amazing stuff! And to think ... this was fourth in our voting.

3rd place: Shiromayu's Caramel Ribbony Miku (12 points)

Here's a design that lives up to its name! Muting Miku's normal green look for some more pastel colors, Shiromayu has decorated her hair and outfit with caramel-colored ribbons, not to mention that her outfit does look a bit like a cream puff. I have to say, the double-ribboned hair here looks wonderful, and like my special choice, I think she'd look good as a regular release if she doesn't make the Snow Miku cut. Plus, look at those little bear earmuffs!

2nd place: y_sanau's Blue Parfait Style Miku (13 points)

This is the one I refer to as the "likely choice" overall. She's already the favorite of Nendonesia, and she's placed second in our voting (as well as on my ballot). No real risks here with the palette choices as it's the same as the other Snow Mikus, and the maid/waitress theme to her look is different from anything we've seen. Not only that, but y_sanau has included accessories which likely make this one so popular: a teapot and tea cup combo. It is, perhaps, the most complete pitch of the bunch.

But it didn't rank as number one. What did?

1st place: Tobakyouko's Berry Miku (15 points)

Tobakyouko's design was, with y_sanau's, the only one of the bunch to get four votes from our staff. A berry-themed look that features Miku in a waffle cone dress with berry coating, oversized macaroon hat and lots of little berries decorating her, she does stand out. Then there's her liquid-like hair, which with some translucent PVC (and we know how Japan loves that stuff) could look very impressive in the right light.

So with all that said and done, why don't you head on over to the Piapro page for the event, with more than 200 entries, and find a favorite? Let us know in the comments which designs you're digging!

[Note: All designs are property of their original owners. Tomopop does not claim any ownership what-so-ever on them. We just think they're pretty enough to share!]
