And from a technical standpoint, the topic and readers' questions are the only exclusive content on a podcast since we already have the posts/articles for preorders as well as the sporadic "Do want"/monthly favorite topics.
The other thing you can do is release the segments as separate files. That way if we want to just hear the main discussion, the preorders, reader questions, whatever, we could tune into that one segment. Plus you could probably check your download numbers to keep a running gauge on listeners' interest areas.
As someone who runs a bi-weekly podcast myself, one suggestion I would make is to watch out of laughter and audio spikes.
The only real complaint I have is the audio spikes during episodes and these come mostly from rambunctious laughter.
To be very clear, I would not want the portions of the show where everyone busts out laughing to be removed. I like those. It's fun.
However, when editing, I think you should check those areas and limit the volume for those portions to remove the audio spikes.
Also, Hiroko is hilarious.
Wouldn't having the podcast already count as serving the community?
Are there any specific reasons why you do or do not listen to Tomocast?
It gives me something to listen to while driving to work, and lets me think about toy-related matters outside of my usual interests.
Are there any topics that you’d like to hear in the future?
Hearing about what your collections are like, or what kinds of phases you went through as a toy collector. Plus I'm always open to talk on NSFW figures and anime figures.
Are there any outside guests that you'd like to hear on Tomocast?
Bill Murray :P
Do you have any ideas for new segments (like Pre-Orders or What We’ve Been Up To) that you’d like to hear?
Maybe the stuff that you guys actually received that month? You do a pretty good job of covering the things I want to know about.
Are there any general comments you have about Tomocast?
The audio is sometimes an issue, especially when it comes to volume levels. Some people come in too quietly while others are really loud. Some voices fluctuate in volume at times.
I did like the TMNT and Star Wars casts, but they felt much more like retrospectives then actual toy discussion, although you guys did touch on them. I tune into TomoCast to listen about toys, which is what I think is a unique thing no other podcast offers. I already have other podcasts to listen to when I want to listen to nerdy retrospectives
Also, hit me up if you guys ever do a Pokemon cast XD I know farFAR too much about the merchandising history behind that brand.
Overall, I like where the podcast is going, and keep it up!
Bill Murray :P"
I'd totally tune in for that!
===="I did like the TMNT and Star Wars casts, but they felt much more like retrospectives then actual toy discussion, although you guys did touch on them."
The general discussion was also nice, though. Plus a lot of the appeal of those toys was what they were based on so it'd be weird not to devote some time to it =x
====="Also, hit me up if you guys ever do a Pokemon cast XD I know farFAR too much about the merchandising history behind that brand."
If they ever did a pokemon one, they should just make it an open-mic night =p Seriously, just get everybody in the community up in that thing. All 649 Tomopoppers.
The length of the podcast doesn't bother me, as long as there is time for all the segments, I'm cool. That said, I enjoy the longer episodes that I can spend a good while listening to as I do other things.
I also really like when you just talk about what you have been up to recently, because I could listen to any podcast about toys, but it's how interesting and funny you guys are that keeps me listening to the Tomocast.
