Tomocast episode 8 records tonight: Toys of Yesterday photo

We're recording another Tomocast tonight, folks, with us focusing on the toys of yesterday that hold a special place in our heart back when we were wee Tomopoppers. We're talking the classics from the 80's and 90's from popular series such as Transformers, LEGO, Pound Puppies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Care Bears, cereal prizes, and so much more that the sky's the limit.

How similar are we? How crucial was the brain washing machine we call TV? Did we annoy our parents to death? And what could be our fondest memory? Join me, Colette Bennett, Jason Millward and Pedro Cortes as we all sit in our rocking chairs and reminisce about the good ol' days.

We also have the latest in preorders and upcoming releases along with our bag of nostalgia. Don't forget to join in by asking us your questions in the comments about toys of yesterday and any thing else since the last Tomocast. Now git off our lawn before I call the cops!

MOAR Tomocast:

Legacy Comments

Which was/is your favorite ninja turtle?! I was always a Leonardo kid : )
How many of your childhood toys do you still have? When I moved to the U.S. we still brought quite a few of my old toys. I still have the Cobra jet, several Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Playmobil, building blocks, and who-knows-what-else stashed in the garage.
I love old toys the most! Mostly because I'm living thirty years behind everybody else. Arrested Development rules! No, I don't mean the TV show!

I was curious if you guys ever found anything really cool at like a yard sale or something? I've found tons of figures really cheap that way. The old box of Ninja Turtles nobody wants is like finding treasure.

One thing that amazed me was how insane people went for cabbage patch dolls. Really? Of everything to go batshit for, cabbage patch? Personally, Garbage Pail Kids represent!

I'm amazed by the sheer volume of cartoon toyality in the 80s. Not just the popular stuff, but things like Silverhawks or a Teddy Ruxpin. I'm really anxious to hear what everybody has to say!
Didn't have that many popular toys as a kid. Mostly it was a bucket of army men, cowboys and indians, and a sandy ditch with some Lincoln Logs.

My sister and I would also record audio dramas with her stuffed animals. Since our parents wouldn't buy us GI Joe toys, we named a bunch of the stuffed animals after GI Joe characters and characters from other things our parents wouldn't buy. Thinking back, those dramas were dysfunction central. We turned Scarlett into a prostitute, Tomax was an alcoholic pedophile rapist, Garfield became sort of like the gross side of Marlon Brando, Snoopy had Downs Syndrome, half the adult characters would trick the pig (named Hamlet) into eating pork, etc.
What is the worst figure you have had the displeasure of buying in your entire history of toy collecting?
If you guys were the might morphin power rangers, what color would you be and why?
(Also, I wanna put a baby in Pedro and Colette. Sorry newbies)
Anyone know about street jaws? I knew nothing of the cartoon, but the toys were pretty cool.
