Tomocast episode 12 records tonight!? photo

Wait. Another one already!? This is something most unprecedented in the history of Tomocast! But it certainly is happening folks. First we get left behind for San Diego Comic-Con and now we're left behind once again for Otakon. Why do the other staff members keep leaving us?

That's fine! We had fun last week with recording Personacast that we're going to do it again! Again Jason Millward takes the reigns as our host along with myself, the cute and lovely ladies Rio McCarthy and Stella Wong, myself and Pedro Cortes. ... Huh? Pedro went to Otakon? TRAITOR! Fine! We'll have Jason's good friend, the charismatic and funny Teddy join us (Jason's words, not mine)!

We assure you that this week we really are sad about being left behind. Really. We are. We'll cry into our beer tonight as we talk about Saturday morning cartoons, the toys, the marketing, our rituals, and more. We will also discuss the oodles and oodles of figures shown off at Wonder Festival.

Hit the comments with any questions you might have about the glorious days of Saturday mornings. And if you have any clue why we were left behind again or why Pedro turned traitor, we'd appreciate your input.

MOAR Tomocast:

Legacy Comments

Clearly, you were all left behind because you were meant to provide us with podcast-y entertainment!

And Pedro turned traitor because he just wasn't man enough to resist the siren's call of Otakon. You're a strong bunch, staying home... Like me. Resist. Resist!
Ah don't worry, some P3 will make you forget that Otakon even exists.

Anyways, out of wonderfestival, what was the most exciting part of it and the most disappointing part of it for you guys?

For me the most exciting part was the reveal of a Kotobukiya Medabots line, since that series has plenty of awesome designs I'll probably buy.

Most disappointing was no FLCL figma or revoltech. Actually, I found most of the figma reveals to be disappointing.
Hey Rio, Merry Christmas!

What Disney figures would you like to see come out in the near future since Sideshow has released Chernoborg and Malecfient and those two are drool worthy what character or villians would you like to see.
My question is for Teddy. Why is you so damn sexy? How can I be more like you?
Wait, what? I still haven't finished listening to the last tomocast >_< I usually listen when I'm out walking or running (for about 50 feet until I'm back to walking, damn lung capacity), but I injured my foot last weekend and as a result I'm only about an hour in. Guess I won't be bored for a while, especially if it's another two and a half hourer ^_^

Ah, Saturday mornings. Reminds me of the good ol' days with the Challenge of the Superfriends. Who was everybody's favorite member of the Legion of Doom? (also I miss those cool BK cupholders that were around that time. And I'm nostalgic for my poor Donatello cereal bowl, you know, where the whole bowl was a turtle character and you were kinda eating the cereal out of their stomach area but you didn't think it was creepy because you were just a kid?). I imagine I probably slept through Saturday mornings for the most part. Oh sure, there was TMNT. And the Real Ghostbusters. And He-Man and the Masters of the Universal. Visionaries. Plus Thunder Cats, ho! Frigging loved Thunder Cats, probably my fave cartoon as a kid. Really wish they'd do new figures for it. Supposedly they have a movie on the way, but I imagine that'll be a shitfest. It's amazing, though, since you can really appreciate something like Thunder Cats on one level as a kid but after you grow up you appreciate it on entirely different levels like the sheer campiness of the dialogue ("I can feel my sword growing in my hands!") and improbabilities like fighting & falling in space. I think Centurions around that time, too. Plus way later on Freakazoid and the Tick came along. Shame they never really made Freakazoid toys. Woulda killed someone for a Candle Ja--- can't say that name. Oh, and all of those other obvious marketing vessels like GI Joes and Transformers. At any rate, I'll have to dig around and see if I still have my original Tiny Toons NES game.

Also, they never seemed to do a lot of figures for Scooby Doo despite it being a massive title. I have a lot of the fast food-related toys for it, but I always had a hard time finding like actual figures (up until I found a 5set earlier this year). The early cancellation of Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo was tragic.

Ah, Saturdays. I imagine even among the Tomopop staff there's a time-span's difference between everyone so I'll be interested in hearing about everybody's favorite Saturday morning cartoons and what drew them into the series.
Ever get too excited for the weekends, woke up too early and had to sit through those boring commercial adverts and old weird cartoons?

If there was a zombie outbreak in a convention, what would be the first thing you grab and run, what figures would you most likely throw at the zombies?
Finished the Personacast (walked an hour, then just listened to the last half hour while sitting around), XD @ it going another 15 minutes after the ending credits including talk about a plan for this podcast. And, for the record, *this* time there's only one question buried in my comment although a few others could be construed as questions.

And props on the Darkwing Duck references. I loved the toys and show.
