Tomocast 28 records tomorrow. The topic? Boys! photo

Welp, I've got to say that I'm finally completely out of element. Later Wednesday night, I'll be joined by Kristina Pino, Rio McCarthy and Stella Wong to talk about men, boys and anything that can make a gal squeal with delight. Now, I'm quite capable of appreciating attractive members of either gender, but I'm definitely not going to have the same relish as the ladies. I will try my best though as they've all heard me drool about various ladies through various episodes.

We also need questions! Leave them in the comments and we'll ask them. Bonus points for supreme relish!

It seems like big name companies are finally embracing the community demanding male figures, however they seem to be filling this demand with 'trap' characters and overall girly guys. Do you believe this is still a step in the right direction or that it's just a cop out?
If all the bishounen figures out there fought all the manly man figures out there, which side would win?

Bonus challenge: same question, but with only the figures in your collection.
This may be a bit further off from the topic but I guess it's still somewhat related:

What are your thoughts on the collector's mentality of going for the gender that's harder to come by in a line? Is it even real? Am I just being paranoid?

I noticed that a lot of people here who collect scaled PVC figures, figmas, nendoroids, etc., keep clamoring for more male characters to be made. On the other side of things, people who collect male dominated lines want more females, e.g. Transformers collectors wanting a classic Arcee figure.

I actually know of a guy from a forum who makes a conscious effort in trying to get all the female characters made in some male dominated lines, and the exception that seems to prove the rule is that he's also currently trying to get all the male My Little Ponies he can get his hands on.

Do we really simply support these characters? Could it be a subconscious act of defiance against the toy companies going for what's more marketable instead of putting more consideration into what the collectors want?
Okay, Kotobukiya announces a Marvel/DC/Whatever BiSHONEN line. What do?

On a more serious note, do you think a line like that would sell as well or do just as well as the Bishoujo line seems to be doing? (Personally, I think not, but that might be because pretty anime boy Batman kind of terrifies me.)

Also, one male character of your choice just got a fabulous figure made of them by your favorite company. Which character, which company, and any other details you'd want to give about this dream figure?
So what if a company decided to make a line of males figures dressed only in suits.
Greatest line or greatest line of figures
Follow up on Psycho's comment, we all know Wave is known for their Beach Queen line. If a company made a specific line of male figures what theme would you want?? (Swimsuits exposing manry chests? crossdress? or the ultimate suit?)

Which anime/ video game deserves more male figures?
What can figure makers do wrong in terms of a male sculpt that either makes it completely unappealing or to go a bit further, makes it embarrassing to own?

The parallels with female figures are easier to identify such as absurdly proportioned breasts or large seems in complex hair parts but what makes for a failed male figure?
If I can ask a question of the girls: Do any of you actually find those generic schoolboy male protagonists attractive? I'm talking dudes like Kirino's brother, the Hinata Inn's manager, Haruhi's crush, and that guy who turns out to be the grandson of a Jurai prince? Also, is there a word for the male equivalent of a moe blob (since the term is mostly for school girls)? If not, care to make one?

In general, do you feel that Japanese culture has an aversion to really manly men? Most male characters, even those in action series, have a disturbing lack of muscle. Don't get me wrong, we've got some manly personalities but it'd be really nice for some of the series to have tough guys that look like tough guys =p

And what do y'all collect in terms of male characters from western lines or is that just a skip?

Just for the sake of discussion, at this point my favorite manly man is probably Ken Masters. Previous favorites included the wimpier-looking bad asses Kazuma the Shell Bullet/Treasoner, King of Hearts Domon Kasshu (don't let the name fool you, it was the manliest Suit he could find on short notice =p), and Kamina.

idk, that's kind of different. For a lot of these lines they're only doing a few characters from the series so they kind of have an excuse for not covering the male ones, who for some shows are just generic schoolboys anyway. For dedicated toylines like Transformers it's just downright odd when a female character is omitted. I know I bring this example up all the time, but there were over 200 figures in the 90s X-Men TAS line, many of which were Wolverine variants. However, there was not ONE Jubilee figure despite her basically being the main character (earlier on, anyway) >_> When it comes down to something like that, it's like the toy company is going out of their way to not make a figure for the character.

===="(Personally, I think not, but that might be because pretty anime boy Batman kind of terrifies me.) "

Batman would be a notoriously bad selection, but they could easily pull it off with guys like Gambit, Magneto,

Plus Spiderman, but it'd be flat-out creepy how natural it'd come to him.
would simple male figures in school uniforms be more or less boring then a bajillion girls in school uniforms? (especially considering considering scarecroodle's comment that many male leads are really generic) Is their rariety what makes them exciting, and if they flood the market would that thrill be gone?
I'm one of those collectors that has been wishing for more male figures since I became a collector.Even though there has been a good amount of male figures released with more to come I would like to see more male figures from BL games.

Kotobukiya's E/S line has released 2 different figure sets for the very popular Nitro+CHiRAL game of Togainu no Chi with Shiki and Akira (not counting the white version repaint of Shiki's military ending) and all boys from Lamento Beyond the Void. I've been dying for a PVC figure from Sweet Pool. Koto is going to be making another set of figures from Togainu for the 5th anniversary. What is your take on other compaines besides Koto making figures from the BL games? Since the BL industry is very popular ($$$$) why aren't other compaines looking into this as they do for eroge? Is there a particular BL game character that you would like made?

XD TP Fujoshi
I don't have any questions but I can't wait for tomorrow night!
All the boy figures they make seem to be from games that I've never heard of, and won't be able to play! (I don't game!) I would really like some more well-known males made into figures. I'm a girl who loves bishonen, but I would love more manly and badass figures too!

Yes, anime schoolboys are boring and generic as well. School uniform do not a good figure make.

And where are my Spike and Jet figures!!!!???
BBBOOOYYYYYSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you guys talk about some of the male characters from Persona that you would like to see made in toy form? *cough* Yosuke *cough*
So, like, what happened to this? It's been like two weeks since the supposed recording.
Finally recording tonight YAY ZOMG.
Finally I've been waiting to hear this :D
