To Aru Kagaku no Railgun's Ruiko starts a fashion project with Marubiya

When you think of the To Aru series, it's usually just Mikoto and Kuroko. There are times when the other characters get some love, including the guys. One character that seems to have attracted the attention of figure makers is Saten Ruiko. So much so that a company that I never heard of, Marubiya, has a figure of her coming later this year.

This 1/6 scale polystone Ruiko's Various Fashion's Project "It's a planned border pattern, but...?" figure is an interesting name and makes me wonder if Marubiya has plans to make several Ruiko figures dressed in her various fashions. It's an interesting concept that I would like to see spread to other figures. However, sculptor TEAM JOE is not impressing me for this 235mm tall figure. It's a cute pose and I like the outfit but the quality looks poor for its size. What's up with her mouth. I guess she's just salivating that much over what she's eating. Seriously, that's one glossy mouth.

Unfortunately, this is another one of those cases where it's a bad mold done in material for an exuberant price. She's currently retailing for ¥13,000 and is set for release in September as both a normal blue version and special red Miyazawa Limited version. If this really is a planned series from Marubiya then I see this as being a very limited series. As it only one unless I underestimate the fans of the To Aru series. What do you folks, think?
