Three new Love Plus figures ask a question: Does anyone still buy these? photo

Remember when it seemed like everything in Japan revolved around Love Plus and who was their chosen DS waifu? It seems like forever (read: 2 years) ago, but the figures seemed to have come only after their time in the sun. Trying to get back into the sun, Wave has produced the 3 ladies in their bathing suits, now in 1/8 scale. Sadly, it looks like they need to go back inside.

There's varying degrees of bad here, so let's start with series fave Nene. The pose is great, outfit isn't bad, but those are some bad seam lines and sculpting. Her armpits, right hand and even back are not fixed correctly to the suit. Rinko just looks awkward, with her body sinking in on itself. At least she does come with alternate hair styles to fit the somewhat over-sized head. Manaka is the fairest of the bunch and I have nothing really bad to say about it. She keeps it classy.

They each run 6,200 yen each and will be released starting in November with Manaka, Rinko in December and Nene in January. You can't have all of your waifu come home at once, wouldn't want to upset them. Check the gallery before you decide on which girl you may or may not be interested in.

I dont know why but i hate their faces :)
God, the hype was over a year ago when the Nendoroids were released. Seriously, if you really want one you can easily find them for about 1,400 yen now. I predict the Figmas going the same way.

The girls are cute, but absurdly boring. I know we harp on school girls a lot around here, but at least characters like Haruhi have a great personality or the K-on girls have some good designs/instruments. The Love Plus girls come off as boring, samey girls with boring samey designs.
Guilty as charged. I figured since I'm on a role I might as well keep up the Manaka collection I have going.
I don't really see anything wrong with them it's just that other figures interest more than them, and since I'm not familiar with the source material I don't really know much about the characters. I do have the Manaka nendo though and she's made a fine addition to my collection.
I actually think they look pretty good except for Rinko. Weird how all her photos are side-boob despite the fact that character isn't very well-endowed apparently. Of course, the profile shot looks even WORSE >_< I do like both of her headsculpts, though, with the alternate much more so than the norm.

Manaka looks a so-so good. Sure, it's a nice looking figure but nothing really leaps out at you or anything. The overall winner definitely would be the Nene between the pose, adorable 2p bathing suit, and, well, the fact that she has ample cleavage. The highly visible seams are a turn-off, tough.

Where is this now? Oo And I'd be happy if I could find these figmas at a reduced price down the road.

Uh, are we thinking of the same Haruhi? >_> Honestly, the character annoyed the hell out of me throughout the series (haven't seen the movie spin-offs or whatever). If it wasn't for generic male lead #2151634's deadpan snarking and the ever-amusing Itsuki (again, kinda bland design that makes up for it in personality), I probably would have just called the series quits.
I think Manaka and Nene both look cute... if they would fix the obvious flaws in the Nene cast (particularly those armpit seams), she'd be the best of the lot.
Croodle - Mandarake has them pretty regularly for around that price, at least they did last time I did a Nendo search a few weeks ago. And the thing I liked about Haruhi was she actually had a personality, yeah it was annoying at times but she wasn't 'cute shy moe girl who gets into craaaaazy situations lol!' like 95% of schools girls seem to be in anime nowadays
I'm into Manaka and Nene, but the seam lines between Nene's boobs turn me off a little. It's like... A vagina between her breasts. If they clean that up, I may consider asking for her as a birthday present, but... Not if they're going to look like THAT!

Meh, Mandarake really screws you on the shipping with their additional handling charge, though. 1400 JPY manda is like 2000+ JPY everywhere else.

idk, Haruhi was one of the most obstinately one-personality types I've seen. The closest she came to having a second thing was showing jealousy at times when the male lead was attracted to somebody else. Honestly, half the show I was wondering if she was severely autistic or something.
I really don't understand the hate whenever someone here whose not Jonathan posts about Love Plus anyway.
