Three more art shows, events opening this weekend photo

This weekend seems to be a busy time for events, because in addition to the Rotofugi dual-show opening on Friday, and shows opening at Stranger Factory, there's other events happening from one coast to the other ... and places in between:
  • In Vancouver, J.Shea's newest exhibit, Suspended Animation, will be opening at Ayden Gallery (88 W. Pender St., 2nd Floor, International Village). The show will feature some new creations from J.Shea, along with work from Emi Kanomata, Tim Karpinski and Taka Sudo. Suspended Animation runs through Sept. 30, and in our gallery, you'll find some preview images of J.Shea's work!
  • In New York City, myplasticheart (210 Forsyth St., Lower East Side, Manhattan) is hosting the opening of Amanda Spayd's Origins of the Forest. Opening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, the show will feature Amanda's little stuffed dudes in some appropriate woodland themes. The show runs through Oct. 7 (with Doktor A's show to follow), so check it out if you can!
  • Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9 marks the 10th annual Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago, being held along Division Street in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Naturally, since it's an art fair in Chicago, Shawnimals will be there at booth #218 (on he south side of Division between Wood and Honore streets) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central each day. They'll have handmade plushes and goodies on hand alongside the usual Shawnimals and Ninjatown stuff.

Are you thinking of attending any of these events, Tomopop readers?

ACen 2013: Bandai/Bluefin part 2

It's funny how being around a lot of something can make me want that thing. I never figured myself to be big on Gunpla, as I was never into Gundam. But seeing all the various model kits on display at Bluefin's booth was enoug...

ACen 2013: Athena's Wink

This isn't what we usually cover, but it is hand-crafted collectible merchandise so I thought creations of Athena's Wink are worth taking a look at. Their booth was run by Carolann Voltarel and Carrie Wink, who spend a lot of...

ACen: Good Smile Company shows off more Miku

Good Smile Company had a lot of products on display at ACen this year. My favorite of which was Deep Sea Miku but their Nendoroid Racing Miku is pretty sweet. It looks like she has semi translucent hair and with the car and u...
