This Week in Tomo: One is the loneliest number

2:00 PM on 07.04.2011

Welcome back to This Week in Tomo!

Sadly, I'm all by my lonesome this week. Kristina is off having awesome adventures and nobody else could be reached. I assume it's because they're fighting secret organizations and keeping the world safe and free, but it could just be because they're busy. Either or.

Anyway, I talk about the surprise announcement of a Tekken Bishoujo as well as other ladies I'd like to see hit the line. Hit the jump to watch the vid. Oh, and please excuse the focusing problem with this video. I got a new camera and I'm still getting used to the little beauty.

I was also a little surprised that they decided to go with Tekken before using some more well known fighting games like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. I'm guessing the the revealing outfit has something to do with it.
I'm not a huge Tekken fan, but the figure is slowly growing on me, and I suspect it will wind up on my shelf with all the other Kotobukiya Bishoujos.
I would fully support a Juri & Morigan bishoujo with my wallet.
If they EVER make an Elena, I AM SO FUCKING THERE.

It should hardly be surprising that Kotobukiya chose Tekken over Mortal Kombat, considering Tekken has been the number one most popular/profitable fighting game in Japanese arcades for about 5 years (if not more), whereas not a single MK game has even been released in Japan in the last 15 years (and before then it was not particularly popular or well-known). Having said that I would find it absolutely fascinating to see what Kotobukiya/Yamashita, or any Japanese figure company for that matter, would do with a Mortal Kombat license. I like MK but it has never been the prettiest game - I would love to see it infused with a touch of Japanese aesthetic sense, whether in game, art or figure form.

More realistically though, as a Capcom fan I'd love to see them tackle various Capcom properties and I agree that Juri would be a really cool choice. Elena, Karin and Rainbow Mika are other favourites of mine that are fairly underrepresented in the figure world, so those would be pretty cool to see.
Elena is all I want! Preferably doing her split/handstand pose.
