This Week in Tomo: C3 Bombardment

10:00 PM on 08.29.2011

Welcome back to This Week in Tomo!

Prepare yourself for a long episode, because Kristina and I talk a whole lot about C3. No, not the explosive's reject younger brother. I'm talking about the toy expo that showed everybody what they'll be spending their greenbacks on in the next couple of months. There's talk of PVC models, garage kits, boys, girls and more. If you liked our coverage, we go way more in depth stuff from Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Volks, etc. It's a pretty varied, as we got into several video game characters as well as the usual anime assortment that we'd normally dig.

Hit the jump to watch the extra long episode.

First one I sat down and listened to! I really enjoyed that! (the Samus picture probably drew me in the most!)
I have to admit that the Metroid related news got my most excited too out of the C3 news, so *fistbump* to you Pedro!

Now... pardon the silly question, but what *is* C3 and what's its' history? There seem to be so many of these shows that happen in Japan and I lose track of them... how do you guys keep up with it?
Max Factory Samus holy crap my wallet argh. I remember when it was around 140 yen to the dollar, sigh.
@LCZ128

I believe it's the Chara Hobby show. It's one of the bigger shows that we see every year, though I personally don't know why it's called C3.
Chara Hobby C3x Hobby is the full title and the C3 stands for Cultural Convention of Characters but most either call it just C3 or, more commonly, Chara Hobby.

It's arguably the 3rd biggest figure event on the calendar after Treasure Festa and Wonder Festival but unlike the other 2, it's more Company orientated, with very few private sellers doing the GK side of things. Having said that, Chara Hobby is when I got my 1/4 scale Bayonetta and KOS-MOS ver 4 from Volks.

Oh, and Other M was made by nintendo and Team Ninja, a dev team within Tecmo.

Thanks for the clarification on both ends! I can't believe I drew a blank on Team Ninja after talking about it literally minutes before we started recording.
Lamento first! Before Meatshits! Er, Sweetpool.

I'm getting Kyosuke even if it kills me.

I JUST WANT something that isn't a kit for Slayers... If I could get that, I would be so happy.

Have you guys thought about doing Tomopop movie nights? For those of us with Netflix and 360s/PS3s/etc..?

Tomopop Review: Kotobukiya's ArtFX J Jonouchi Katsuya

When Kotobukiya first announced that Jonouchi Katsuya would be to be joining Yami Yugi (reviewed) and Seto Kaiba (reviewed) in the ArtFX J line, I was pretty ecstatic. As a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, I felt the line was a ...

Onii-chan, won't you pre-order Sora Takanashi too?
