Remember Capcom's little April Fool's stunt last year where one of the four characters shown was going to be made into a D-Arts figure? You know, the teaser which involved the Mega Man Zero-series Zero, classic-series Roll, and Iris (Mega Man X4), --- all of which were really neat choices --- and that lame ol' Ultimate Armor X which naturally was the one that Capcom actually picked? Do you recall how after the announcement Capcom Japan held a fan's poll and the MMZ-series Zero blew all the other poll choices out of the water? Guess what? THEY LISTENED!

The fans spoke (I've personally been shouting at the top of my lungs for years) and the companies did indeed listen: we're finally getting a Mega Man Zero-series in Bandai's S.H. Figuarts line. Capcom Unity has posted some photos of the unpainted prototype which looks as cool as you'd imagine. The images only show the basic figure and his hair, although he'll presumably come with both a Z-Saber and his buster shot gun (unlike his MMX-series counterpart, Zero's arm doesn't transform into a cannon).

Mega Man fans will recall that Mega Man Zero, a sequel/spin-off to the Mega Man X series (itself a sequel/spin-off of the classic series), features a badly damaged Zero waking up in a distant future where X has seemingly become a tyrant who hunts down (or "retires") Reploids who resist his regime. Zero, at this point consisting of little more than a shattered torso, is restored with a new body thanks to the sacrifice of a Cyber-Elf (using them, by the way, will permanently lower your rank in some of the games) and joins the Resistance to fight against Copy-X (and then Doctor Weil in the later games). The franchise consists of four incredibly awesome Gameboy Advance games that were later ported to the DS in the Mega Man Zero Collection (which adds a few new features as well... although it's hard to get used to the change in button layout).

Of course, this won't be the first highly articulate MMZ-series Zero. Kotobukiya produced a PLAMO some years ago which I purchased under the assumption that Bandai would never do a MMZ-series Zero... a purchase which I can now regret. I can only hope that Bandai will follow this one with Copy-X's four generals: Harpuia, Leviathan, Phantom, and Fafnir.
