The Dark Knight returns to Play Arts Kai line w/ RobinTwo new Batman: Arkham City Play Arts Kai figures, Robin and a Dark Knight Returns Batman, are now available for pre-order. This most recent Batman figure, based on the game's The Dark Knight Returns alternate appearance (which in turn is based on the rather famous Frank Miller reinterpretation), is the third new Batman: Arkham City Batman mold in the Play Arts Kai line (this obviously excludes repaints). The mold features a bulkier, buff Batman in line with Frank Miller's vision; one capable of physically dominating criminals. While merely an alternate character skin within the game, fans of Frank Miller's Batman run and others will undoubtedly be happy with this well-sculpted, totally ripped version of Batman. Robin, on the other hand, appears to be a faithful recreation of his in-game appearance. While the figure seems to be up to the line's usual quality standards, I personally don't care for it given that I really dislike Robin's revamped look (specifically that dorky hood). If either figure inspires you to fight crime (which may or may not be illegal in your area), you can pre-order them for about US$60 each. They're expected to release sometime around April 2013. Personally I'm hoping that the Play Arts Kai line will tackle a proper Batman Beyond, one with more character resemblance to the cartoon than the game (well, the Terry McGinnis one. I imagine the game's version could be fashioned after the Bruce Wayne version). Given the suit's popularity and the fact that we seem to get one Batman each wave, I imagine that there may be a good chance that we'll see a Batman Beyond of some sort.
