TDKR Play Arts Bane (and Batman) pre-orders break

...but no bat-breaking action gimmick
Square-Enix's Play Arts Kai is bringing big screen action into your small (or modest-sized?) home with their latest The Dark Knight Rises pre-orders which features the bat-breaker Bane and Batman.
The figures, most recently seen at Tokyo Game Show 2012 where the TDK Joker was announced, both sport fairly impressive sculpts but seem to suffer from the terrible paintwork that has thus far plagued the line (the widely panned "zombie" Commander Shepard is a perfect example). While I continue to be baffled by Square-Enix's paint sensibilities, they seem to be here to stay (although I'd love them to go before that TDK Joker gets released...). That said, Bane's paintwork at least isn't as crippling as some previous entries and the figure remains passable. Given that we'll likely never see another Bane figure in the Play Arts Kai line, Bane very well may be worth a pick-up regardless of your thoughts on the film.
Surprisingly, the Batman looks even more impressive. I would have been tempted to write him off as yet another Batman but the level of detail and that cool poseable cape give the character tremendous display value. Plus there are fewer fleshy areas than seen on Bane which means less botched paintwork.
I'm honestly amazed by the number of Batman characters we've seen in the Play Arts line thus far (including the recently available for pre-order The Dark Knight Returns Batman and Batman: Arkham City Robin). Given that they've tackled the last two Nolan films, one can't help but wonder if we'll someday see a Cillian Murphy Scarecrow as well.
The Dark Knight Rises Bane and Batman both feature a ¥6,200 list price and a February release date.
