The figure news leading out of Tamashii Features is a renewed version of Kamen Rider Kabuto. The original release of Kabuto came back towards the SHF line's beginning, back in October of 2008. However, Tamashii Nations has introduced a new body, allowing for greater poseability.
In showing off the new body, they presented the new body as each of the main Heisei-era Riders. Does this mean that they're going to re-do them all? No. What I do like though is that they had a body for Kamen Rider Hibiki, which is the last series that hasn't received a release in any form from Tamashii Nations. It's hope, however faint, that something will eventually come of it.
As for the revision of Kamen Rider Kabuto, I'm honestly wondering what needed to be improved. It still holds up, nearly 5 years later, as one of the best figures in the line. It's scheduled for a release sometime in 2014. I was hoping for a re-release of Kabuto, but I can't help but think that this was a re-design due to feet. Early figures in the line used die-cast in the feet and other areas, but due to cost increases, they've been replaced with plastic feet. Rather than do a re-release at the old price with the old features, they could make a new figure with the new features, even if the old figure was close to perfect.
In any case, if it leads to a better figure, I'm fine with that. I'm just hoping I'll be able to complete the Rider collection soon enough.
