Tomopop Review: Max Factory's Mea Kurosaki

Mea hails from To Love-Ru Darkness, and as you can probably tell, the manga has its fair share of ecchi elements. Before Mea, Max Factory has also made a 1/6-scale Momo Velia Deviluke from the same property. The two share a t...

Alter unveils promo shots of their second Mikan Yuuki photo
Alter unveils promo shots of their second Mikan Yuuki
by Tianxiao Ma

To Love-Ru has recently gotten a couple of high quality figures from Max Factory. Now Alter is gearing up to release their second Mikan Yuuki figure. If you'll recall, Alter's first take on Mikan had her lying prone in her casual clothing. This variant is rather plain, featuring her in the stereotypical school swimsuit.

Alter's blog has some promo shots. It looks like a decent enough figure, though nothing really stands out to me. Mikan will have a smiling expression and a more... let's say accusatory face. Pre-orders begin in just a few days!

Tomopop Review: SHFiguarts Momo Velia Deviluke photo
Tomopop Review: SHFiguarts Momo Velia Deviluke
by Pedro Cortes

You know, there's something to be said about the harem show. Sure, they're usually puerile, insipid and lacking in any sort of redeeming value. Yes, they usually rely on fanservice in lieu of good animation or solid design. You know what... there's very little to say about most harem shows beyond their pervy value.

What's interesting on the merch side of things is that most harem shows don't usually get posed figures. Outside of Bakemonogatari, which definitely has a harem element to it, I can't think of many series that'll get figmas or Figuarts. Bandai, perhaps trying to stretch out their poseable figure line, has gone ahead and made an S.H. Figuarts of Momo Deviluke, from To Love-Ru Darkness.

How good is the figure? Well, let's just put it this way: there's usually a reason why harem shows don't get poseable figures. Hit the jump to find out why.

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Art Spirits

Art Spirits likes to take things slow. After they first announced their To LOVEru Darkness Precious Collection Momo Belia Deviluke figure it took some seven months for them to finally reveal it. The same seems to be...

Rapunzel's got nothing on Max Factory's Mea Kurosaki

[Update: Added links to previews and more pre-order links] Max Factory's Mea Kurosaki didn't fly under my radar. It was nowhere near my radar. If Mea was a Soviet bomber and I was commanding NORAD, let's just say we'd all be ...

Vertex's Nana joins her sister in pre-orders

If you like Vertex's take on To Love-Ru's Momo, you can now complete the set by ordering Nana, her twin sister. This figure shows her more energetic personality compared to Momo, whose pose is more reserved. As with Momo, you...

Tomopop Review: S.H. Figuarts To Love-Ru Golden Darkness
by Vanessa Cubillo

From the anime and manga, To Love-Ru, comes Golden Darkness, the first figure to be released in Bandai’s S.H. Figuarts line. Also the lead in To Love-Ru Darkness, Golden Darkness, also referred to as Yami, is the beautiful legendary assassin who can transform any part of her body into a weapon. Released in May, S.H. Figuarts Golden Darkness is a premium figure with a number of accessories and additional parts.

Does Bandai’s Golden Darkness give fans of this popular character a figure they’ll love? The S.H. Figuarts line does have some great figures, but that doesn't mean every figure will automatically be a success. So will this figure be added to their list of great figures, or the list of disappointment?

Mikan is a younger sister type from To Love-Ru Darkness, and now she's getting her very own figure thanks to Art Spirits. I think her face and pose are pretty cute, but there isn't anything super fancy going on. Her outfit may look plain but I've realized that most of my figures aren't wearing normal, contemporary-style clothes. Mikan would actually stand out a bit in my collection, which is weird.

There's one glaring issue from this preview set, and that's the massive gap running down the side of Mikan's top. Maybe this is an indication that the top casts off. Whatever the case is, hopefully it's not indicative of a huge production flaw.

Check out the rest of the gallery at the Art Spirits blog. There's no pricing or pre-order information yet.

[NSFW] This Mea Kurosaki is all torn up

Leave it to To Love-Ru to make even an "innocent" school swimsuit entirely immodest. At least the character is fitting, with living weapon Mea Kurosaki all shredded from battle damage, leaving her suit just a few shades away ...

Pre-order this shiny new Golden Darkness

Despite the harem filling the cast of To Love-Ru, the order of the day seems to be still more Golden Darkness, this time brought to us by Vertex. I can't say I'm surprised, though. Nanoha's Fate is certainly an appealing char...

Alphamax's Golden Darkness looks golden in this preview

I make no bones about it: I'm critical of swimsuit figures because to me, they're pretty lazy from a design perspective. There is, however, one thing that sets Alphamax's Golden Darkness apart. It's all about that little...
