The Monogatari series went from quirky Shaft show to a powerhouse franchise, and Alter's cashing in with a Shinobu figure! I love Shinobu not just for her moe attributes, but also because she's secretly a badass. However the ...
The Monogatari series' Shinobu is many things, but I think "adorable loli" would be her chief descriptor. Although she isn't really played for her moe attributes, Nisemonogatari does highlight her love of donuts.
Kotobukiya captured this in their original 1/8 Shinobu Oshino, but now they're making a variant that really amps up the "loves donuts" aspect of her character. Seeing the sheer joy on Shinobu's face ought to be enough to melt even the iciest, Grinch-iest of hearts. There will also be a munching face if you prefer.
Unfortunately this will be a Kotobukiya web exclusive, so you'll have to go through a proxy service to get a pre-order in. The MSRP is a reasonable ¥8,424 and Shinobu is set for a November release.
Since the initial reveal of Nendoroid Shinobu in magazine scans, she has gone on to get a coat of paint and a few option parts. Kahotan's blog has now revealed a third expression piece as well as a new accessory: her sword Kokorowatari.
Honestly, her donut-eating expression is the one that won me over. Everything else is a sweet bonus. This Nendoroid won't have a standard release, but will come with the Nisemonogatari Premium Item Box. It contains this Nendo, a Nisio Isin short story, and some bonus artwork. It's not officially being sold in the United States but you should be able to find some retailers who will. You can pre-order for ¥5,980 and the set will be out in November.
Nendoroid Shinobu has been on my radar for a while, and looks to be a winner. Her more animated, post-Bakemonogatari form is perfect for Nendo-fication (disregarding a certain uncomfortable bathing scene).
The version at Miyazawa Model Expo is still unpainted, but she still has that melts-your-heart cuteness. This is one Kahotan preview I'm really looking forward to!

She popped up briefly at Wonder Festival, but these scans give us our first close look at the next entry in the ever growing Monogatari line of Nendoroids. This time it'll be the loli (looking) vampire Shinobu Oshino who...
We saw her just a few weeks ago at WonFes, but it's already time for you to get your pre-orders in for Kotobukiya's wonderful take on Hitagi Senjougahara from the evergreen Monogatari franchise. Shops started advertising...
If you love seeing two entirely different anime series mashed together then have we got news for you! Apparently in honor of the merging of Tokyo International Anime Fair and Anime Contents Expo, the newly named AnimeJapan 20...
As we talked about yesterday, the fact that Good Smile Company is re-releasing their lovely Shinobu Oshino from the Monogatari series is fantastic news for collectors, since it allows fans to get their hands on a figure ...
It's been more than two years since we originally had a chance to pre-order Good Smile Company's rather adorable take on the Monogatari series's resident vampire loli, Shinobu Oshino. As with all things Monogatari she was a big hit and a near instant sellout, commanding high prices on the secondhand market. Fear not those of you who missed her first time out though because today it was announced she'll be re-released later this year!
Kahotan also gifts us a re-preview (is that even a thing?) using an original production run version, which confirms she's just as lovely as ever. Her huge pile of doughnuts base is highlighted, complete with references to the show's other characters, and Kahotan also points out her removable mouth doughnut and ability to sit flat on other surfaces.
There's bound to be big demand for this re-release, so I'd prime your browsers if you want in. The blog states pre-orders begin tomorrow from the Good Smile Online Store, but I'd be amazed if regular retailers aren't in the loop as well. In any case, check back and we'll have a list of links for you.
The figure is due for release later this month, so Akiba Hobby has generously provided a huge sample gallery for the world to see. It features both hair parts (ponytail and short hair) as well as both alternate right arms (holding handcuffs, dripping water). I'd go with the ponytail and water-dripping hand because that one's just the best.
One potential issue is her right eye, which looks a bit off. Maybe it's the camera angles. Maybe it's one of those things that you wouldn't notice unless someone pointed it out (and now you know, ha!). Hopefully it's nothing.
You can see the rest of the extensive gallery at Akiba Hobby. I'm really excited to get this Senjougahara!
Some prototype photos of Nendoroid Nadeko Sengoku (Bakemonogatari) have surfaced. I was pretty hyped when I first saw the prototype in magazine scans a few weeks ago, but now I'm not as taken by it.
Find out why after the jump.
Back when concept art for a Nendoroid Suruga and an unpainted Mayoi were shown at WonFes, only one thought ran though my mind: where the heck is my Nadeko?!
Apparently Nadeko has been hiding in these magazine scans, which sho...
