Diamond Select Toys has released another Pulp Fiction Minimates box set, this time exclusively through GoHastings.com. The set recreates the infamous "Diner Showdown", a scene in which actor Tim Roth (who would later star in ...
Whether it's fighting plants, zombies, or Kaiju, Diamond Select Toys has some pretty fierce offerings coming out this week.

Not all NYCC-exclusives cost an arm and a leg. In fact, some cost nothing at all; such is the case with Diamond Select Toys' NYCC-exclusive Ghostbusters Minimate which could have been yours for the low, low price of stopping by DST's booth (#1736) at NYCC.
DST released details about the giveaway earlier in the month but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that we saw the actual figure (I'm not sure if our on-site reporter, Andres, managed to get his hands on one). While the character sheet showed that the figure was green, it didn't adequately illustrate the fact that the Minimate would be cast in an awesome-looking translucent Slimer-green (or ectoplasmic green?) color. That instantly makes the figure 20 degrees cooler (can you feel a chill in the room?).
If you didn't nab this guy at the booth then you're probably too late, since the figures were mostly given out in the mornings. It's one more reason why the DST booth should always be one your first stops at these conventions.
Diamond Select Toys has announced its NYCC plans which will consist of the usual booth, two panels, signings, giveaways, and FREEBIES!
DST's free promo items this time around will include a promotional Ghostbusters Minimate. This green Minimate with the Ghostbusters logo will be given free to whoever stops by the DST booth (#1736) and asks for it, although only a limited number will be given out each day (so come early!). Throughout the weekend, DST will also give out free full-size posters featuring their original Aliens, Ghostbusters, and Marvel Minimates artwork (see gallery). Times will be chosen at random, and once put out they tend to go fast, so check back regularly.
Not enough freebies for your tastes? Try hitting up either panel, as both will feature a giveaway. The first, "Diamond Select Toys: The Best of All Worlds," will take place on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 5:00 in Room 1A18. The panel will feature DST president Chuck Terceira and sculptor Eli Livingston who will talk about upcoming products, give away some prizes, and announce a new toy line (although we've heard that "new line" talk before).
The second panel, "Minimates MiniFigures: From Marvel to Clerks to TMNT!", will take on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 4:15 in Room 1A24. The panel will discuss upcoming Minimates releases, give away some more prizes, and unveil the next Marvel Minimates assortment. The speakers will include Minimates product manager Robert Yee, designer Uriel Caton, and Chuck Terceira (interestingly enough, Zach Oat isn't listed on either panel although I'd assume he'd be there).
Not exciting enough for you? Well, spend US$18 on Minimates purchases at the show and you'll receive a ticket to the Minimates building station where you can create your own Minimate from the assorted parts and take it home with you.
Be sure to check out the images in the gallery (which includes some of the free posters) and the full schedule after the jump.
Diamond Select Toys has released new images for its Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare mini figures. Both the Minifigures and Minimates are slated to hit retail next month, although fans have an opportunity to win both sets.
The Kill Bill Minimates are broken into a House of Blue Leaves Box Set (featuring the Bride/Beatrix Kiddo, O-Ren Ishii, Sofie Fatale, and Gogo Yubari) and a Crazy 88 army builder box set featuring a lot of alternate bits.
While it's great to see that fans are getting the iconic bleeding eyes Gogo head, it's just not the same without a plank to go with it (another pleasant accessory could have been a plume of blood for reenacting Sofie's dismemberment). That said, DST captured that facial expression pretty well.
If you haven't pre-ordered the sets yet (or found them at retail), they're still available through a few sites.
Guardians of the Galaxy is theaters now and collectibles are popping up all over. A Toys "R" Us exclusive Minimates configuration currently available for order and it will be followed by some comic/specialty shop exclusives which release later this month.
While both the Toys "R" Us and comic shop configurations will feature Starlord, Groot, Rocket Raccoon (as a mini figure), Drax, Ronan, and a Sakaaran Trooper in their 2-packs, Toys "R" is billed as exclusively carrying Yondu. The specialty packs will exclusively feature Gamora, a Nova Corpsman, and Nebula.
The 2-packs are currently available via Toys "R" Us for US$7.50 each while you can order all four 2-packs at Entertainment Earth for US$30.
Diamond Select Toys has released a preview gallery, concept sheets, and more for its upcoming (days away!) SDCC-exclusive X-Men: Days of Future Past comic Minimate box set. The box set will be on sale for US$20 at booth #Booth 2607 during SDCC and is limited to 3,000 pieces
The preview gallery features the box set's four Minimates (Logan/Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Mystique, and a Sentinel), along with Colossus and Nightcrawler (each sold separately!), and makes use of a few perspective tricks to make the Sentinel look bigger. Also featured is a cross-section of Mystique's different heads which includes her normal head, a half-transformed head, and a full version of Senator Robert Kelly's head (each with an appropriate hairpiece).
Not featured was the Sentinel's alternate, damaged head (which you can see in the concept sheet and the Minimates tray), which looks pretty neat.
Get ye to the DST booth! Diamond Select Toys will be giving away three free Minimates posters (see all three in the gallery) at booth #2607 during SDCC. Once you've been lured in by the promise of a free poster (or three), stay to check out DST's offerings for the coming year.
Are posters not your thing? DST will also be hosting its usual two panels, both with Q&As and giveaways at the end. The Minimates panel takes place on Saturday, July 26, from 1:30-2:30 in Room 8. DST President Chuck Terceira, artist Jason Wires, and marketing guru Zach Oat will be on hand to discuss what's coming up for the popular 2-inch mini-figure line. Will there be a second Godzilla Minimates box set? The answer might be at the panel.
For everybody else, DST's "The Best of All Worlds" panel is on Sunday, July 27, from 3:00-4:00, in Room 7AB. The panel will discuss all of the non-Minimates offerings, including the Marvel Select line, statues, busts, and so forth, in addition to apparently announcing a new toy line.
Be there or be square-bodied with a roundish head that may be flat on the top.
Bluntman and Chronic, the superheroic creations of director Kevin Smith, will be receiving a Toys "R" Us-exclusive Minimates 2-pack which will be sold exclusively at the Entertainment Earth booth (#2343). If that sounds confusing, you might consider taking a few hits.
The figures feature new facial expressions and paint schemes that reflect the costumes worn in the Bluntman and Chronic comic book mini-series (previously featured in several of Kevin Smith's films). The pack will apparently be sold through the Entertainment Earth booth (where you can pick it up for US$10) because Toys "R" Us, who has the exclusivity, doesn't have its own booth at the show.
