Tomopop Review: McFarlane's The Walking Dead Riot Gear Zombie

In case you didn’t know, The Walking Dead is a comic book series and show about zombies. So far, McFarlane has been one of the major companies that has been producing toys from both the show and the comics. Coming from McFarlane’s TV series 4, Riot Gear Zombie is the figure we’ll be looking at today.

Taken from season three of The Walking Dead, these zombies were seen outside the prison, and their gear proved to be very useful later on in the series. How well did this depiction of a zombie translate to an actual figure?

Images released for McFarlane's Walking Dead series 6 TV figures

At the beginning of April the next lineup for McFarlane’s series 6 The Walking Dead TV figures was revealed. We would be getting figures of Abraham, Carol, Hershel, Bungee Guts Zombie, and Rick. All that was known were the names and that they were coming out in October.

Now there are rendered prototype figures for these figures. Bungee Guts Zombie is truly a gruesome sight with his guts hanging out of his body. It also appears that he can hang from these guts as well.

Carol looks like the fierce survivor she has become. Hershel looks like he will have a detachable foot to show his amputated leg. Then there’s Rick who looks as dreamy as he has been all last season.

There was a surprise in the lineup because there was also an image for a Governor figure. He is shown with a long coat and the option of an eye bandage or eye patch. These are all still available for pre-order on BigBadToyStore.

McFarlane's The Walking Dead series 3 comic figures is on photo
McFarlane's The Walking Dead series 3 comic figures is on
by Vanessa Cubillo

In a world where Andrea is still alive and a much better character than the TV version, where Rick has one hand, and Daryl doesn’t exist; this is the comic version of The Walking Dead. After two series of figures, McFarlane is coming out with series 3 from the comic world. There will be four figures included in this series: Rick, Andrea, Dwight, and Punk Rock Zombie.

Rick is designed after the cover art for issue #60. This figure will come with a bandaged stump on his right arm, hatchet, revolver, shotgun and rifle. Andrea is designed after the cover at for issue #62. She will come in her white tank top and jeans, and come with her scoped rifle, pistol, and knife.

Dwight is a new character, and one of Negan’s top lieutenants. Designed after the cover art for issue #119, this figure will have his bandaged and burned face, and come with a crossbow and hook to attach to his belt. The last figure is of course a zombie, and this one is taken from issue #30.

The Punk Rock Zombie will have a mohawk and punk rock clothing like a spiked collar and combat boots. Also keeping with the punk rock theme, this figure will come with a guitar. So far we only have the concept art for these figures, but I hope the actual figures look as great as these do. Coming out in June, each figure will be US14.99 or US$54.99 for all four of them.

Another quick peek at McFarlane's Undertaker statue photo
Another quick peek at McFarlane's Undertaker statue
by Brian Szabelski

Back in October, news broke that McFarlane Toys were finally doing something that should have been done ages ago: making collectible statues of WWE superstars. The Undertaker was a logical choice for number one, and today, we're getting a little more of a look at The Phenom in his statue form, with Todd McFarlane himself providing a few more details on the piece. Those include the texturing on the hat and Taker's beard.

Todd also mentions that three other designs are coming out next year ... I have to imagine at least two of them are "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Rock. The third one ... well, could be a number of choices, but as long as it's not John Cena, I'll be alright with it.

... It's probably Cena, isn't it? (Please be Bret Hart.)
