Funko has unveiled two new Premium Hikari Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (Ghostbusters) vinyl figures (previously available in a crispy flavor).
The first is a fairly standard version (which I swear I've seen before?) and is limit...

Did you 'catch' DST's NYCC-exclusive Ghostbusters Minimate? by Scarecroodle
Not all NYCC-exclusives cost an arm and a leg. In fact, some cost nothing at all; such is the case with Diamond Select Toys' NYCC-exclusive Ghostbusters Minimate which could have been yours for the low, low price of stopping by DST's booth (#1736) at NYCC.
DST released details about the giveaway earlier in the month but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that we saw the actual figure (I'm not sure if our on-site reporter, Andres, managed to get his hands on one). While the character sheet showed that the figure was green, it didn't adequately illustrate the fact that the Minimate would be cast in an awesome-looking translucent Slimer-green (or ectoplasmic green?) color. That instantly makes the figure 20 degrees cooler (can you feel a chill in the room?).
If you didn't nab this guy at the booth then you're probably too late, since the figures were mostly given out in the mornings. It's one more reason why the DST booth should always be one your first stops at these conventions.
SDCC and WonFes may have been almost a month ago at this point, but many of its collectibles are still on our minds. Tian recently posted the top ten things he was looking forward to from these cons and, because I'm far more excitably (and exceedingly less orderly), my own highlights list is nowhere near that short.
Funko has debuted its latest Hikari mold, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (Ghostbusters), with a "Burnt" deco reminiscent of the character's fate in the first film... and many of the video games.
The mold itself is a mix of cute and creepy. I love the body work, but that face really weird me out. Maybe if the eyes weren't looking down I wouldn't be tempted to turn the thing around so it's not looking at me but, I suppose, the original character was intended to creepy so it fits the general vibe.
The choice of deco is somewhat intuitive since it gives Funko some flexibility while achieving an iconic look. The glossy metallic blue used for the bib (?) and part of the hat also looks great.
Funko's "Burnt" Stay Puft Hikari can be pre-ordered for US$80 and is slated for a November release. As always, you can also win one by entering Funko's Facebook contest.
The Matty Collector panel at SDCC (or "Mattypalooza") was described as featuring a lot of new Masters-related announcements and, well, little else. However, some major non-Masters news came in the form of an announcement that Matty Collector had plans to make figures based on The Real Ghostbusters cartoon which, by itself, is worth four or five average announcements.
If you're a sci-fi fan, you should really know about QMx (Quantum Mechanix). Their entire existence is like a love letter to all of my favorite sci-fi TV franchises. At SDCC this year, the marquee features were two large scal...
The countdown to SDCC is now underway! Funko has just announced their first batch of SDCC exclusives. If you recall last year, you know that they will have plenty of exclusives to offer.
So this first reveal is dedicated to Ghostbusters. Funko will have exclusive Pop! sets that feature Dr. Peter Venkman covered in slime and a metallic Slimer, and the entire ghost hunting team covered in Stay Puff’s goo. There will also be a six inch, glow in the dark, Stay Puff Pop! figure available.
The last exclusive in this batch comes from The Rocketter. There will be a black and white Rocketter ReAction figure. He will come with a removable helmet and a jetpack.
Now after this announcement, Funko will reveal their exclusives every Monday and Wednesday until SDCC begins. They also will be giving away these exclusives on their socialmediaaccounts, so you can win them without having to go to SDCC.
Diamond Select Toys has announced the first winner in its 24-inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man vinyl bank photo contest and it's.... Jon Tilson of Alabama! (Okay, that probably didn't warrant a big reveal.) Jon Tilson won US$200 in prizes which include a Godzilla bank, a Knight Rider vehicle, an Amazing Spider-Man movie bust, a Slimer bank, Slimer gelatin mold, a Ghostbusters Silicone Tray, as well as some other Ghostbusters items.
What was Tilson's winning photo? A shot of his "angry" Stay-Puft next to a giant peanut character in the center of Dothan, AL, the peanut capital of the world. If nothing else, it proves that the playing field is wide open so all contestants have a decent shot at the prize (and that incorporating local landmarks into the photo is probably plus). The lesson? Diamond Select Toys' totally awesome 24-inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man vinyl banks may cost a sizable US$110 (Entertainment Earth will ship it for free), but you can definitely get some return on your investment.
The contest is still ongoing (a new winner will be announced every month until... well, it's an open-ended contest) so now might be a great time to pick up one of these banks.
Diamond Select Toys has chosen to inundate fans with SEVENTEEN new offerings that will appear in the Previews catalog. While a few items are more "recent" than "new", the roster includes several items unveiled at C2E2 last mo...
Diamond Select Toys' 24-inch tall Stay Puft Marshmallow Man vinyl bank recently started to ship and, to celebrate, DST will be hosting a series of monthly contests where all fans need to do to win is take a photo of their 24-inch Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (either the good or evil version) somewhere outside and then email that photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. Easy, right?
Winners will score prize packages which consist of $100 worth of toys and collectibles from DST. Considering that Stay Puft himself retails for US$125, the figure could almost pay for itself.
The rules are stated as follows: "Photos must be at least 600 x 800 pixels. One entry per person per monthly cycle. Duplicate entries will not be included in the drawing. If you do not win, a new photo can be submitted after the start of the new month. A previously submitted picture cannot be submitted again. All entries become the property of Diamond Select Toys, and can be used on various Websites and social media sites. Prize package value is based on suggested retail price of all items combined. Winners are prohibited from entering any DST contest again for one year."
There's currently no word as to when this contest will end. It's certainly one way to promote a very cool, very high-ticket collectible.
See how tiny a banana looks in DST's over-sized Stay Puft Marshmallow Man's hand! The 24-inch vinyl bank begins shipping this week alongside the slightly smaller 12-inch Godzilla vinyl bank.
