Wonder Festival 2015 Winter: figma and figFIX flood

So you say you've got some figma you're just dying to see made? Well then, let's see how many of your wishes have come true this time with the first round of announcements!  figma: Kantai Collection - Yukikaze, Kitakami...

Wonder Festival 2015 Winter: figma Rin Tohsaka
by Scarecroodle

While Saber variants greatly outnumber all other figma entries from the Fate series, Max Factory is apparently still making other characters. Most recently this has come in the form of a painted figma Rin Tohsaka based on an appearance from Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works which was on display at Winter WonFes.

Fans will recall that Rin was Archer's master during the Fifth Holy Grail War. More importantly, it's a reminder that I *still* need to check out this new iteration of Fate/stay night. Not that I'd ever let something as trifling as not seeing an anime interfere with picking up a figure, mind you.

I love the look of this one and prefer it over Rin's original figma (which I missed buying). Expect to see additional (and hopefully better) images later today.

From the future, Real Action Heroes Archer shows his stuff photo
From the future, Real Action Heroes Archer shows his stuff
by Oansun

Archer has 'tude. And for good reason; the guy has seen some terrible things. Also done some things of which he's not entirely proud. And this may or may not turn out to be one of those things. The Real Action Heroes line has a good reputation for being the Sideshow Sixth Scale (or whatever equivalent...don't worry about that timeline) for anime and related items. The RAH Saber is pretty sweet. But every time a company tries an Archer...that face. Not really something to place but...nobody seems to get it just right. Too small maybe? Could be.

Otherwise, this guy looks pretty rad. His blades look ready for the slaughter, or to clank against some invisible swords. The cloak/jacket/robe/thing looks like a real winner; it is made of cloth and doesn't look like straight-up doll clothing (scaled down mess). Even if it basically is straight-up doll clothing. Under armor (not the brand) looks sleek and clean. The bow has some nice edges, though I can't tell if it's able to be drawn back. I would have liked his finger to be a little more realistic in holding an arrow, but I'm sure it's accurate enough to the show(s) to pass.

This is the first look, so it's still a prototype. Maybe there is time to get the face/head just right. Either way, Medicom expects an October 2015 release. But if it's consistent with other Archer figures, you might be waiting the better part of a decade for it. Just kidding...sort of. This is a sixth scale figure, and a picture of Archer with Rin is in the gallery for size comparison. Yes, he's winking. Winking toys are always great fun. In fact, that lounging picture is a good selling point, personally.

Good Smile Company reveals Winter Wonder Festival exclusives photo
Good Smile Company reveals Winter Wonder Festival exclusives
by Martin Siggers

With Winter WonFes 2015 less than a month away, Good Smile have stepped up to reveal the exclusive goods that they'll be selling at the event, thus saving us the agony of speculation and second guessing that used to characterise the event.

As is always the case at Winter WonFes, Snow Miku headlines the exclusives available, with her fan-designed 'Snow Bell' look available in both Nendoroid and figma forms. We've also got a rather striking Nendoroid of Battleship Re-Class from Kantai Collection and another Saber figma, this time an unarmoured 'Dress ver.'.

As with all WonFes exclusives in recent years these will also be available from the Good Smile Online Shop for a limited period of time. GSC will also take any remaining stock touring round the world on the convention trail, so if the company attends an event near you that might be a smart time to get your hands on this stuff. Online sales will be made to order so as long as you get in between the 8th and 16th of February you'll be guaranteed to get one. The two Snow Mikus will be ¥4,500 apiece while saber and Re-Class will set you back a little more at ¥5,000.

Honestly I'm a little underwhelmed, but then I'm not a huge fan of any of these characters. Any of you readers out there really liking what you're seeing?

Don't wait until the spring to view Sakura Saber

Fate/stay night's Saber has had many faces, but none as Japanese as Sakura Saber. If you're not familiar with Good Smile Company's latest take on Saber (first announced nearly a year ago!) don't feel bad, she comes from a rat...

Make Nendoroid Rin Tohsaka part of your fate photo
Make Nendoroid Rin Tohsaka part of your fate
by Tianxiao Ma

Saber gets all the attention these days, but Good Smile Company hasn't forgotten about tsundere master Rin Tohsaka of Fate/stay night! She got a gorgeous scale figure way back in the day, but now returns as a diminutive Nendoroid.

Kahotan has put up a preview to herald the pre-order period, which starts now. You can see the variety of poses and effects pieces, but my favorite part is the embarrassed expression.

You can pre-order Rin for ¥3,900. She's set for a July release.
