Speedlee's custom Leonardo has me seriously considering a commission piece
Hey, didn't I just talk about a custom TMNT action figure? Specifically the Shredder? Why yes I did, but I didn't feel like sitting on my hands and waiting for another custom Turtles tip to just fall in my lap. No sir, I got out and began looking, and as luck would have it, custom figure maker Speedlee had just completed a second version of his Samurai Age Leonardo as a commission piece.
Speedlee has quite the catalog of work up at Figure Realm, hitting all sorts of franchises such as Transformers and various Marvel properties, but what I'm most drawn to are his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pieces seeing as how I can never really have my fill. This new version of Leonardo is re-imagined as a samurai warrior, complete with removable armor and some wicked samurai swords. But remember, this is his second attempt, taking what he did with his first and refining it to a level of perfection that has me weak in the knees.
Standing at 7 inches tall, Leo is assembled from a Sic Zannki base figure and what appears to be a NECA Comic Style Leonardo for the head, hands, forearms, and probably a little more. However, that dragon emblem on the chest armor is all Speedlee's work, taking roughly 2-3 hours to complete. Kudos on that since it looks awesome. And man, the swords have sheaths. I love action figures that have sword sheaths!
What's the catch? Well, the catch is that I'm not the one who commissioned this piece. However, I'm seriously considering commissioning a second version of his custom Michelangelo figure from a while back. Speedlee, if you see this post, you tell me how much it's going to cost and we'll talk business. Anyone else considering the same thing?
