Sony, Erick Scarecrow to collaborate on Uncharted 2 Nathan Drake vinyl figure photo

In what might be the most unexpected news I've heard in a long time, Sony announced on their PlayStation Blog today that they're teaming up with Erick Scarecrow and ESC-Toy to produce a line of vinyl figures based on Uncharted 2's Nathan Drake. No, that's not a lie. The collaboration will result in four different versions of the 8" Drake figure, all of which will come with a random treasure item packed inside. The current release date for these is listed as sometime in Fall 2009, with an unknown price point at the moment. More info should be available at Sony's Comic Con booth (#5200).

As for how I feel about them? Erick's always done quality work, and Uncharted has grown on me, but I'm not 100% sure yet if I'm going to be running out to buy this. Still, the initial design looks cool and this figure ought to resonate well with the video game community out there. We'll definitely be keeping a look out for any further news on Erick and Sony's collaboration. Who knows? Maybe there will be a vinyl Sackboy or Kratos in the future.
