Sideshow's Galactus hungers for your bank account photo

Mere wallets aren't enough to satiate Sideshow Collectibles' Galactus's hunger. You know, because most people don't carry US$800 around in their wallets. And at a gargantuan 33-inches tall, this maquette understandably has a massive appetite.

If I could describe this Galactus maquette in a word, that word would probably be glorious. The photos seen here are just the tip of the cosmic iceberg, Sideshow has a whole gallery of them and most are incredible. The level of detail is both insane and something you would expect on an item this size. The paint is also incredible, metallic bright colors with a weathered look in places. The chest-piece is particularly awesome.

Oh, and did I mention he comes with two face options? If you feel that open-mouthed expression makes him look a little constipated, there's a more neutral closed-mouth expression as well. Galactus has even more display choices in the form of his heralds, Silver Surfer and Nova, who can be affixed to his arm (albeit only one at a time. Then again, Galactus usually sticks to just one herald anyway).

The Sideshow Collectibles' Galactus maquette is a positively invigorating item. Even if you don't pick him up, just looking at the photos is an incredible rush that can ratchet up your enthusiasm as a collector.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Galactus is cosmic being either as old or older than the universe (depending on the current Marvel continuity). Ever-hungry, Galactus wanders across space, often with the aid of his herald, to seek out new planets teeming with life to devour. Galactus is among the most powerful characters in the Marvel continuity and generally has no regard for anything living on his meal-planets. He's also notable for empowering the Silver Surfer, whom offered his life in servitude in return for Galactus sparing the Surfer's homeworld.

So, is anybody planning on picking up Galactus?

Hot Toys' Joker mime has all the skills of a real mime

Jack Nicholson's Joker was enough of a creeper on his own. Put him in a mime outfit, and all bets are off. Indeed, a sociopathic clown and a mime aren't terribly different (in terms of looks, anyway). If you think about it, a...
