Sideshow make the call and Darth Maul came in third photo

Oh my puns are so funny! Did you get it? Because this Darth Maul is made of bronze. He came in third? Damn I'm clever! You didn't think that was funny? Well how about this one: "Knock knock." "Who's there?" "Sideshow's selling a bronze statue of Darth Maul for over $4000." "O...kay, Sideshow's selling-" "Nah hah! No, Shut up, that's a thing that costs thaaaaaaat much! OMGWTFBBQ!" And to top things off, I think this looks cool. What in the hell is wrong with me?

So the nitty and the gritty here on the piece, this is a 19.5" solid bronze statue of Darth Maul, the Big Bad from Star Wars: Episode I. That's over a foot and half and 69 lbs of metal, all crafted into a pretty cool pose as -sigh- I really liked Darth Maul. Yeah yeah, I know that's totally not okay, but I thought he was awesome. Totally pointless, stupid, and over-designed, but cool. Like if Todd McFarlane got a hold of the concept designs for Episode I and just went to town there, and the pose this statue takes shows off the best parts of the character with the dual-lightsaber popped and the stance being in the category of "acceptably dramatic." This is the sort of statue I can usually get behind.

It's just that this statue is not for my social class. No peasants need apply here seeing as how the price for the Prince of Pointy Horns is US$4250. and that's if you buy it now. It's limited to a strict quantity of 50 where the first ten are sold for the US$4250 price, then the next ten are US$4500, the ten after that are US$4750, the ten that follow are $5000, and the final ten are US$5250.

Perspective, in case you want some: That's enough to pay my student loans for nearly ten months. That's enough to purchase a decent used car. That's enough to buy an awesome TV. That price is for a statue that sits on your shelf and does nothing but make people ask, "So, how much is rent here?" and you have to answer, "Oh, rent is pretty good, but I have to make monthly payments on that thing, otherwise Sideshow Collectibles will break into my house and bash my head in with a 70-pound Sith Lord." And remember, I like this thing. If you can afford this, even on installments...can I come and live at your place?

MOAR Star Wars:

Legacy Comments

That sculpt is really beautiful. Also, Darth Maul was awesome, even if it was just to introduce his species so we got the Bao-Dur 4 years later

The pricing thing is hilarious. I get where they are going with it, but I predict it exploding in their faces easily.
Make the call? Wouldn't it be more like made? >_>

70 lbs is absurd. Can't even imagine what that would cost to ship. And for the price, 19" seems tiny.
