Suddenly, the Comic-Con floor layout is making a bit more sense. Today, Warner Bros. Consumer Products, DC Comics and their SDCC neighbors at Sideshow Collectibles have announced a licensing deal that will bring forth a whole bunch of new "premium statues, busts and other collectibles inspired by DC Comics' stable of iconic super heroes and villains."
Read the full press release here. As for what to expect? The press release explicitly mentions both the The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel films, which does not surprise me. There's also the mention of limited edition art prints and high-end 1/6-scale articulated figures, alongside of (not replacing) what DC Direct is going to be offering. So remember when I said we were getting a ton of new stuff to go with the reboot? Or that they might launch a classics line along with the new reboot stuff? Call it a hunch, but I'm guessing one way or another, this deal's part of that plan happening.
