Show and Tell: Mon-Sieur Bome Collection Vol. 23: Fate/Stay Night - Saber photo

People who frequent local anime or comic shops should be familiar with Mon-Sieur Bome. He's the dude that sculpts affordable figures that are usually below the $40 range. While Bome has sculpted a bunch of original designs, he has done many recognizable faces. Ladies like Maya and Aya Natsume from Tenjou Tenge, Noriko Takaya and Nono from Gunbuster and Diebuster repectively, Kasumi from Dead or Alive, and KOS-MOS from Xenosaga have all been made into awesome PVC representations of their original desgins.

Of all Bome's sculpts, one of my favorites is his version of Saber, from Fate/Stay Night. Follow me after the jump to get a peek at this lovely lass that can kick your ass.

What I really like about the BOME figures are their price. As mentioned above, they tend to be half the price of your typical PVC statue, yet manage to maintain wonderful amounts of detail and are solidly built.

What is great about BOME's Saber is that each piece of her armor feels like it's been placed separately. By that I mean it feels like the sculptor took the individually sculpted pieces of armor and put it on the body of character, like how you would put armor on. This nice detail doesn't impinge on the 'flow' of the armored skirt. The carvings on Saber's chest piece is painted well, with no sign of wear after owning her for two years.

This shot shows more of her skirt and the detail with the petty coat. Despite most of it being underneath her armor, it's still sculpted well with the paint being on model and the ruffles of the fabric intact. Also note the detail on her grieves, something that is often lost on most figures.

Saber came with two swords, though one was left at home during this shoot. Take my word though that the other sword is just as detailed as this one, though it is a big larger. Note the blue and gold filligere at the base of the blade, as well as the design etched into the head of the sword.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to find Saber, due to her age and popularity. There were a couple available through Amazon, so if you do it soon, you should be able to find her at around $30.

wonderful Show and Tell!! I hearts me some Saber anytime :D
I'm probably going to be castrated for saying this but I don't like Bome. even less than Shunya Yamashita (another loved figure celeb around here)

My main issue with bome kits is that, with only a handful of exceptions like Noriko, I find that they're all really boring!!! I have the Bome Natsume Maya, Aya and KOSMOS.
Maya is OK, but the other 2 are really dull in terms of pose and they look somewhat flat. I got the Alter KOSMOS ver 1 a little later and that one was so much better!!
Saber also has the same problem. To me, her expression is lifeless.

Price is a good thing for BOME figures, but I would rather spend more on a more arresting figure.
@GundamJehutyKai -- I don't think there's anything wrong with disliking Bome or Yamashita. I like them both personally, but each to their own!
I have the Mon-Sieur Bome Tohsaka Rin :D I almost got Saber because she was on sale at Toyslogic (I think... I don't really remember which website actually) a long time ago but then after ordering they sent me an e-mail later like "Oh, it turns out we don't have any more, too bad." :(
