Shawnimals' lack of a booth doesn't mean lack of a presence at the upcoming New York Comic Con. Shawn Smith, the head ninja and plush maker extraordinaire, be present at myplasticheart's booth (#3313) on Saturday, October 12, at 1 p.m. for a signing session. He will also be speaking at a panel on indie toys called "The Secrets of Toymaking," hosted by I Heart Guts, taking place on October 12 at 4 p.m. in room #1A14. Other contributors include DKE Toys, tokidoki, kidrobot, and Happy Worker.

I know you're dying to hear about special merchandise. Well, how about some new myplasticheart exclusive toys? That's right! Shawnimals will have two very special items available for purchase at MPH's booth during the con. The first is the Pocket Pork Zombie Takeout blind box plush. It comes in two styles, zombie and victim, with 50 pieces of each edition (100 pieces total). For US$20, you will get one plush and a signed and numbered tag. The second is Mini Pork o'Lantern, a vinyl pork dumpling painted to look like the Halloween icon. The figure will come packaged in a mini takeout box. The price for the Pork o'Lantern has yet to be determined.

Okay, so there is definitely a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. But, how about looking backwards? I am, of course, referring to retiring plushes. Sadly, some of Shawnimals' older plushes are going the way of the dodo at the end of October. You can check out the soon-to-be retirees here. I might have to get that Professor Fliggins...
