SDCC 2012: Weta - The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings photo

Weta, a.k.a. the visual effects studio that brought The Lord of the Rings to life, definitely had a ton of Middle-earth replicas on display at SDCC. The big one is the Barad-dur, the tower above which the Eye of Sauron floats... except the eye itself isn't on the replica. As for more portable replicas, Weta is offering swords and other prop replicas that will be featured in The Hobbit.

In terms of figures, Weta had the cast of The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring on display. The cast of Fellowship will be released as a series of three sets. My favorite is the figure of Strider/Aragorn ($75), just kind of chilling and smoking a pipe. No dark lords to defeat, no Uruk-hai to dispatch, no pesky Hobbits to escort, not a single care in the world. Such a boss.
