SDCC 2012: Nathan Hamill's new prototypes

SDCC 2012: Nathan Hamill's new prototypes photo

During a signing at the 3D Retro booth, Nathan Hamill brought along a few new prototypes to show off. One of those that particularly caught my eye was Strife & Sire, a two-figure piece featuring a stylized bat-like fellow on top of a skull-o-pus. The blue and white variant that was displayed in the DKE Toys booth is the original colorway, and what's even cooler is that the top figure actually sits on the bottom one. Therefore, if you're crafty enough, you can take him off and balance him on other contoured surfaces like the back of your hand, as Nathan demonstrated for us at the booth. He'll also be available in a glow in the dark and monochrome edition as well in the future, and you can see all three variants in our gallery below!

Also displayed during the signing was Nathan's new metal figure, Kammu, that he's doing with Fully Visual. Kammu is about 3 inches tall and cast in solid metal; as such, he's got quite a bit of weight to him!

As we get more info on these new pieces, we'll pass them along to you. But let us know in the comments what you think of them. In particular, I think Strife & Sire is going to find its way into my collection in its original colorway. I'm already formulating fun places to take him as well!

Meet Davidkraig at Kidrobot NY's May 18 customizing event

Want to come check out some live customizing and meet artist Davidkraig? If you're in New York City, you can do that on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Eastern at Kidrobot New York (118 Prince St., SoHo, Manhattan).  As for what he'll be working on ... I'm not too sure. But you've seen his work before, and I assume he'll be sculpting out/painting something just as impressive for the event.
