SDCC 2010: Kotobukiya shows off some new Bishoujo figures! photo

Kotobukiya's Bishoujo line has been slowly churning out awesome comic-based figures with art by Shunya Yamashita for quite some time, but it was revealed at SDCC that they are picking up the pace and upping their game with 4 brand-new concept sketches and 2 finished figures! Emma Frost, who we had seen art of previously, was shown in colored form, as was Batgirl. Both look great, but Emma's face an hair are just amazing. Kotobukiya has been listening to complaints about size and the new figures are much larger. Way to go, Koto! I love when a company listens to their fans. However, I was a fan of the smaller sized Bishoujo girls, but to each their own!

They also showed off concept art for figures from both the DC and Marvel universes. Miss Marvel, Black Cat, Wonder Woman and Cat Woman concept art was all on display, and I have to say they look AMAZING. Black Cat is definitely my favorite, but then again she is one of my top 5 comic characters. And yes, the awesome bases you see in the art will be included on the actual figure. I can't wait to see how these turn out!

Loving this concept art, can't wait to see the figure.
Hmm seems they put out that old supergirl there for size comparison..so the new ones should be quite sizable(yay) and ackward to pose with the old ones(no yay).
I really like that Black Cat concept art and the Emma Frost figure looks like it turned out great.
Dark Phoenix, Emma Frost and Batgirl all look lovely. But Supergirl's hips are just frightening.
This line has never thrilled me, although they look a lot better than the Ame-Comis. The Emma Frost looks pretty good, the Supergirl looks decent (did we previously see this one? I don't remember it), and that Catwoman looks like it might be cool. The Wonder Woman is also intriguing. Someday I'll have to pick something up from this line.

I don't care for the Batgirl, although I don't think it's ugly like some of the other pieces they've released.
Ms. Marvel's getting a statue! Huzzah!
lol omgosh !
ms marvel
supergirl
black cat
am gettin for SURE!
I hope that Supergirl figure was just there for comparison. I already have it, and it's a great figure, but shes got huge hips and thighs, not at all what I'd expect for the Bishoujo line.
Didn't expect to actually like a Catwoman figure but that one is looking good. Nice expression and chunky boots. Her outfit doesn't look especially painful and it's only minimally stupid. And compared to Supergirl*, well...

*what is that, some body paint that magically transforms into proper sleeves once it gets to her wrists? Uh, the failure at boobs AND clothes is making a cheesecakey character design lol-worthy.
Got to say, digging the concept for catwoman- and I'm not big on super hero statues usually.
I must have Catwoman and Wonder Woman
I wish there were better shots of that Emma Frost... Mmmm...

And I love Catwoman for what she's standing on.
That ain't no gargoyle!~
Yes, it was just there to basically take up space/be a comparison. It is not part of the Bishoujo line at all.

Ha! Small wonder why I like it XD
