SDCC 2010: Kotobukiya's Marvel Danger Room Collection photo

So most of you know I'm a huge fan of the Kotobukiya's fine art statues. Well, saying I'm a huge fan would probably be an understatement. Even in prototype sculpts these things are nothing short of fantastic. Seriously, the last time we saw Psylocke it was just the artwork for her at Toy Fair and that left me really wanting to see the final. What did I get when I saw just the Prototype they have on Display here at comic-con? I got something that even with rough paints and some kinks to work out is nothing short of spectacular.

Between this and the spectacularly detailed Rogue I am becoming even more of a fan, and after somehow pulling off an interview with Erick in these crowds, I've essentially become the guys biggest fan. Seriously though, Hit the Gallery to check out all the prototypes that are using a destroyed, light up, Sentinel head for a base. Is your jaw on the floor now? Yeah, I thought it would be.

Like a dozen shots of everybody except Wolverine. I see how it is >_> Meh, I'm not digging the Psylocke and Rogue although that Sent head looks awesome. Wolverine is the only one I like out of the bunch but he's got the lamest base and the facial expression looks a little silly. Actually, the more I look at him the less I like him as well =( The whole head just seems off in places and the camera angle suggests that his trapes are lopsided.
I always felt disappointment that a lot of figure makers still use the 90's era costumes. The modern costumes are just as good/hot. Rogue's got a cape now!

I hate the Astonishing costumes (from the Whedon run?), tbh. My fave Wolverine costume is still the brown & tan look from the '80s when his costume *could* actually count as camouflage. Plus the only real difference between the Astonishing look and his '90s/classic appearance is the lame shoulderpads, the silly vertical bars, and a shortened mask (which, admittedly, is closer to his first app and is more practical than the longer mask).

Rogue's revamp I don't object to *as much* although it's still stupidly minor. She ended up getting a slightly longer jacket, iirc, (but I guess she now has a cape? Oo) which struck me as an impractical costume choice (not that the original jacket was exactly wise). I did like the new hair, though, which I assume was to put the look more like Anna Paquin's in the films.
Okay I need that Rouge right now
