Prize Fair 2012 Summer: Taito

10:30 AM on 02.19.2012

Taito is not just about plush at the AOU Amusement Expo 2012 / Prize Fair 2012 Summer event. The company did have prize figures on display from a few series as well as some interesting and cute odds and ends.

Two kinds of To Aru Majutsu no Index II figures are being made. One set having Mikoto preparing to attack and Harumi extending her arm in a dramatic pose. The other set is for you swimsuit fans which will have the busty warrior Kaori and the Index looking to use her moe powers with her pose and summer hat. Speaking of summer, Taito revealed that they will be releasing a pair of figures of Remon and the lovely Ichika from Ano Natsu de Matteru. Though, based on the artwork, Ichika's legs could use a bit of editing. Nisemonogatari is seeing the Araragi sisters once again, this time from Taito, in a pair of super deformed figures. Also to follow the two will be super deformed figures of Shinobu and Nadeko, both looking so adorable in those art displays.

We're now seeing Taito's Vocaloid and Powerpuff Girls collaboration with keychains of the Vocaloid characters in the Powerpuff Girls art style and the Powerpuff Girls dressed in Vocaloid attire. Cute stuff but would still prefer to see figures of the collaboration project. Taito's Super Mario Bros. merchandise is bit odd but silly at the same time with their night light Boo, Goomab speaker, and Koopa Trooper shell mouse. Continuing on the interesting thought, Taito has what appears to be speakers of large faces of characters Sonya and Yasuna from Nichijou Kill Me Baby! (thanks Samuel!) resting on top of some papercraft bodies. There is also one for Batman, too! Strange stuff.

Nothing overly exciting but some cute things. With prize figure makers doing figures from Ano Natsu de Matteru, we may start to see some larger scaled ones pop up soon.
