Presenting Tomocast episode 6: Toy Snobs photo

There's a snob for every type of thing you can imagine -- wine snobs, food snobs, car snobs, and of course, even toy snobs. They're hard to miss if you know what to look for, and we had such a laugh about them on last night's Tomocast that Topher even invented our own: Name Naim, who you can get a look at above courtesy of Jason Milward's art skills.

We chatted about everything from said toy snobs to dollfies, ugly prize figures and our brand new feature, the Monthly Megapixel, which allows you to get your toy photos on the front page of the site for all to see! We also took our reader questions from Twitter instead of making a post, so if you want to submit yours for next time, follow us on our Twitter page and be around when we make the call for questions.

To download the podcast, click here or subscribe to us on iTunes. Sorry it's so late -- we promise to be on time next month! If you'd like an outline with links so you can see every toy we talk about, you can find it after the jump. Enjoy!

Legacy Comments

Yay, Tomocast is back!
Woo hoo~! Always a joy to listen to you folks.

Hearing about the figure snobs gives me this picture of someone wine glass holding a figure in one hand and holding another like a cigarette in the other.

Can't believe I forgot about the Batman Utility belt. Laughing my butt off remembering Jason's post.

And seriously community. Photographing figures is awesome fun (cheap plug!). Really looking forward to the new feature and seeing what everyone comes up with.
The reason that Kanu is so expensive is because it's one of those invisible joint ones. That body alone is expensive as hell. Like, I'm pretty sure that Volks made a Kanu DD that was the "normal" $600-ish dollar mark. Which for a doll isn't so bad.
(My girlfriend is in to dolls. Thats how I know this stuff. That and I read Danny Choo's site a lot.)

And it is now my mission to make a christmas SD Gundam. Now who should it be. . . Now that I think about it, I'd love to make a christmas SD of char's zaku II. Guess I'll take a trip to the hobby shop. I know they have some SD's (sadly they have a bad selection of everything else).
I can't wait to see what YOU come up with for the Monthly Megapixel. You're already planning one, right? (hint, hint) Your skillz be legendary.
Tomocast be legendary, son.
I love Tomocast! I'm glad you guys are back I missed you :D
Ahaha I love that you used that as the header
http://www.nendoroid.org/index.php this site shows that Nendoroids are in the mid 90's It's almost getting there!

I like Bakemonogatari the people who produce the show is Studio Shaft that also does Zetsubou sensei. It's more of the super natural side kind of show that has ghosts, vampires and crazy things like that.

thanks for always getting my question in!

It's always nice to know I'm not the only one that feels like a huge elitist when it comes to my favorite Figma figures. I'm such a punk about it XD;; I think if it's something I'm going to spend my money on something that's going to be worth my while, I might as well be snobby about it!

I actually thought the Sega Miku wasn't that bad! I guess to each it's own. I must agree with Topher that the Volks Miku is so unappealing to me.

As for the BJD department, I own one K-Lati Doll and a DoD doll thankfully they were given to me by great friends. I would never dream of buying these dolls for myself but that's such an expensive hobby, even after getting the doll, there's a million ways to customize your doll to even look like anything you want. The clothing for the dolls are pretty pricey too and it adds up if you don't sew.

I really love them megapixel monthly idea! It's going to be a really fun turn out!

"fuckin.. name name worked on it" lol ou Tophaa you never stop to amuse me when you go into your awesome tangents.

you guys are amazing I love you all.
Topher gets pretty funny sometimes haha.

"because name naim darling..." xP
Fuck Name-Name. xD
