Presenting Tomocast episode 5: How we collect photo

I have to apologize to all of you for making you wait an extra month for the fifth episode of Tomocast, but as you know, I was a little busy last month with the whole going to Tokyo thing. However, as soon as I got home and recovered from jet lag, we whipped up an episode for you. I'm joined by Topher Cantler, Pedro Cortes and Jason Milward this week as we discuss all things collectible.

As always, you can hit the jump to check out an outline with helpful links of everything we discussed this episode. Go here to download the new episode. Our central topic this week was how we collect: what type of toys we like best, what companies we're into, and what we think of completist collecting. Be sure to share your own thoughts on it with us after the jump!

Last but not least, now that we've reached 5 episodes, you should be able to find the podcast on iTunes very soon. We'll keep you updated as soon as that goes live, but you don't have much longer to wait!

Black Rock Shooter (out this month)
Uplark's Nia/Viral from Gurren Lagann (both out this week)
Queen Mercedes from Odin Sphere (preorder)
Ichiban's Halloween Stitch toys
Figma ex:ride scooters (preorder)
Dengeki Character festival toys

30 minutes: topic: What you collect the most of

*What type of toy do you have the most of (anime, vinyl, plush, movie toys, revoltechs, etc)?
*Is it because of quality, type, company?
* Will you buy more of this one type of toy than you have room for?
*What do you think of completionists (people who want all of one kind of toy made by a company, etc)? If you could afford it would you want to be one?

MOAR Tomocast:

Legacy Comments

I was wondering what happened to tomocast... welcome back!

-listens to podcast-
Apology accepted :) We missed you!
-takes back what I said about BRS Miku's stiches from older posts- I was just kinda surprised I guess.
Listened to part of the tomocast. Btw, I think all the stitch stuff could be for the upcoming Lilo and Stitch anime that suppose to air in Japan and takes place near Okinawa.
Yeah~! Welcome back, folks!

OMG! I was mentioned! Ego boost +10! Nah, just kidding. And, lol, Colette. Just blame your stumbling on jet lag. XD

The name of the character from the Dengeki header is Yuzuko, the heroine of Yuzuko Peppermint and that figure is HOT. I don't know anything about the series but I may have to check it out.

I completely forgot about the ex:ride scooters header! Which was awesome!

Great to hear everyone's collection stories and have a fun laugh again. =D
@DJSooHoo83 - Yes and no. I tell you Japan is FLOODED in Stitch everything. It's a great thing they're so obsessed with him -- at least, great for me ;)
Yuzuko Peppermint. Thanks, I'm downloading now. Jonathon is the best.

Also, everyone, eBay embargo is lifted. Thanks for making me a happy bidding camper!
Or trying, anyway. Looks like it may be from a manga. My searches are not turning up an anime series. Mostly people raving about that figure and saying that they don't know much about the series.

Japan, you're slacking. Get an anime going. We demand more badass chicks wielding chains with rage-flying yellow-ish blue hair for our viewing pleasure.
@Jason Oh, yeah! Sorry! Manga only at the moment. With the release of the figure, hopefully it'll create awareness for people to jump on the series.
explanation of GAR best podcast ever. Jason has a nice podcasting voice! :D another great episode you guys!

what are these keychains you were talking about? :O I haven't seen those. The Miku alien keychain?

my collection is mostly based on figma and nendroids. They are at a good price, and they are posable. In the long run I would prefer those than the big PVC figures.

I can't open a lot of my figures because of lack of room it goes back in the box ;_; but I do play with them when I can~

For me it's quality/character/price. The character is the most important part for me for buying a specific figure.

I usually spazz out whenever a toy gets to my front door, I know how Colette/Pedro feels when they see your figures.

Kind of surprised that Good Smile's Saber Lily was not mentioned. IMO the highlight of late September/early October.
