Playmates Toys release new details on the upcoming Michael Jackson figures

I was somewhat weary when Playmates Toys first announced that they were going to be creating Michael Jackson collectibles, but let me tell you, as an MJ nut - this was awesome to wake up to this morning! Tom Bennett, Chief Executive Officer of Bravado, has released the following statement:

"We are delighted to expand our successful line of Michael Jackson collectible memorabilia by working with the innovative team at Playmates Toys. This new line truly celebrates Michael's unmistakable style and irreplaceable talent. Bringing in Playmates as a licensee only further cements Michael's retail visibility and helps commemorate and preserve the legacy that is Michael Jackson."

They've released pictures of something that excites me to no end, which is the first of the 10 inch style figures - Billie Jean. Now this isn't your live performance Billie Jean outfit that gets turned into figures often, it's the outfit from the video, which is something I've wanted as a figure for a long time. The second figure is the 10 inch style Thriller that replicates his outfit from the Thriller music video.

Both figures will stand around 10 inches tall, have 37 points of articulation, fabric clothing reproduction and come with a signature MJ base. These are individually numbered and will only be available for a short time, so I would definitely suggest getting your preorders in - I already have! You can preorder both the Billie Jean and Thriller figures from Big Bad Toy Store now for $39.99 each.

Both of these styles of figures will be releasing this fall, with additional styles shortly after. Both the Billie Jean and Thriller collectibles will be on display at the Diamond Comics booth #2401 at SDCC for the entire show.
