Perfect Effect's Transformers Shadow Warrior is ... perfect

The mass-produced custom figure market for Transformers is exploding and I'm loving every bit of it. Especially since we are getting figures that Hasbro and Takara Tomy will never get around to producing. Case in point, Perfect Effect's PE-01 Shadow Warrior.

Looking familiar, huh? Shadow Warrior is based on classic Generation 1 cassette Rumble and Frenzy. Perfect Effect did an amazing job in getting every bit of detail that makes this figure look like Rumble while still giving it a modern update. Both guns included with the figure attach to Shadow Warrior's back just like the original cassette. The figure also includes two pistons to make it every bit like Rumble from the cartoon.

As for modern updates, Shadow Warrior kind of acts like a Targetmaster, a gimmick in the later days of the original Transformers where an included mini-robot transforms into that Transformers' gun. In this case, it is designed to attach to FansProject's Shadow Commander, a re-paint of City Commander.

At $37, I want to pick it up but at the same time, I wish I could see the future for a possible re-paint of this figure. Perfect Effect's Shadow Warrior will be available in February, 2010.
