PCN reports David Vonner has quit JazwaresHopes of a Jazwares renaissance have been dashed by David (Dave) Vonner's departure. Pop Culture Network (PCN) reports that Vonner quit following the realization that Jazwares wasn't going to provide the promised resources to improve the company's Mortal Kombat line. Vonner joined Jazwares in a then-unknown capacity back in August, prompting expectations that Jazwares would be overhauling at least some of its lines. We now know that the former Hasbro all-star (pivotal in both the ToyBiz Marvel Legends line and Hasbro's Marvel Universe) was tasked with revamping Jazwares's widely criticized Mortal Kombat line. PCN claims that Vonner was promised, among other things, that he could bring in new sculptors and make changes to the production process. However, upon arrival, Jazwares allegedly didn't make good on those promises and wanted Vonner to work within the existing confines which prompted a dissatisfied Vonner to quit. As an additional (and possibly related) side-note, Vonner recently tweeted: "...NEVER compromise who and what you are....!" While Vonner's departure officially ends any expectations of reform over at Jazwares (especially since any amount of Vonner magic would improve the line), one could hardly blame his decision if these reports are correct.
