Paper Robots 1999: Missionaries for the gospel of papercraft photo

You know me by now, and you know that I'm a straight shooter that would never lie or try to mislead you. So here goes: I don't really like papercraft as it tends to be cutesy and almost always involves anime animals from some iteration of Final Fantasy or some other JRPG property. But I've gotta tell you something and I still feel a little awkward saying this, but I LOVE PAPER CRAFT (as of about ten minutes ago).

My new found love for papercraft came about when I discovered what is arguably one of the greatest websites you'll ever see. If you're brave enough to head over to Paper Robots 1999 -- and can get past the fact that these robots aren't made of metal or plastic like they should be -- you might just find yourself similarly converted. The masters at Paper Robots 1999 have done the impossible and ignited my interest in papercraft by inventing transformable paper craft versions of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Jetfire and a whole slew of other characters from some of the most beloved properties in animation, film, and comics.

Not only are there robots to be had, but if you're more of a comics type you can download Spiderman in either his classic blue and red digs or the super sweet black (pre-Venom) version. Not much of a comics fan? Well they've got you covered with Evil Dead's Ash -- complete with paper chainsaw hand!

Honestly I never saw papercraft as more then something I would mess around with if I had absolutely nothing better to do, but this site has really opened my eyes to the potential of the medium. Go check out the site, download the files, and be sure to tell the people at Paper Robots 1999 how awesome they are for sharing this with you.
